The white Zimbabwean will be extinct in a few generations)

The population has actually slightly increased in the last 3-4 years.

I may not be wise enough to make this statement, but I am going to make it anyway. Some cultures just don't work well together.
95% of whites and 95% of blacks in Zimbabwe continue to live well side by side and live a pretty happy existence. Don’t let the very small but very vocal minorities on either side cloud judgement. Zolsky is not representative.

Any white that didn’t like blacks left no later than the 1990s. The ones who stayed want it all to work.
And yes, when Zolsky goes off at white cabals running the world Jew still from a WhatsApp group, the first people who tell him he’s an idiot are black people.
What’s really crazy is how he has a job and how this is tolerated

How does Zimbabwe expect to assemble a team good enough to compete with the best, when there is quite clearly a race war going on within?

Everytime a team is selected, we find ourselves going through the names to determine the racial make up of the team. If there are more blacks, one side will use that to affirm the "quota" argument. If there more whites (which probably will never happen. The white Zimbabwean will be extinct in a few generations) the Marxists will be calling for a 5th Chimurenga or something.

I may not be wise enough to make this statement, but I am going to make it anyway. Some cultures just don't work well together. Cricket is just a small part of something we have seen in Rhodesia/Zimbabwe since the 1890s. We have seen it in several other places around the world and the outcome is the same. Maybe I should just shut up now and stick to the cricket.

Really hoping to see some fight from our batters. The match is gone, but a gutsy 50 from anyone of our guys will help ease the pain. Heck, if we can take this match to lunch or tea on Day 3 I will be delighted. Go Zimbabwe!
I share this point of view.
Very often (if not always...) whenever thinking of the national squad the refrain is how many whites? How many blacks? Will the "quota" be applied?

I deem it sad and annoying because it is detrimentuous to all: a sensible black player would prefer to be in a winning team rather than being a loser but having a black majority deployed. Finally: these "quotas" harm black players more than whites.

Watching Zim home matches on TV, I see 99% black spectators on the stands. They all cheer and support their white players as much as blacks. Supporters identify with national line-up regardless the colour of the players.

Even Zimbabwe Cricket Board could sensibly think that they would be more powerful managing a winning nation rather than a "quota respectful loser".

just for my curiosity: how many whites live in Zimbabwe nowadays? How many ethnic indians?

I surfed the web but didn't find reliable data.

Well, that day 1 was about how I expected things to go. We got completely demolished. Our mental fortitude is way too weak.

Hard to know exactly but there’s about 20k max in Harare, maybe less, and then maybe another couple of thousand elsewhere.

Indians/South Asians , I’ve no idea. If you forced me to guess maybe 10k.

There’s far more Chinese here these days

The test captaincy would likely go to any surviving member of the big 4. Any of the captaincies of all formats actually. I dont think Williams will play under Raza, there's a clash there. They're absolutely busting for Dion to kick on because he is captain material. He's sharp. If he doesn't, or takes a while to establish himself the captaincy will be a big issue.
IMO Bennett is one of the options to become captain. He cemented his place in all three format and he was the vice captain in the u19 wc. Only the problem is age but it's ZC

Frank is THE barometer for what's going on in head office.
Coltart has triggered him by apparently taking some/all credit for mending the ECB fence. I dont know the circumstances so cant comment. Just pointing out that theyre angry about something.
There's a post about the black armband thing as well which he also lays at Coltart's doorstep. Again I dont know the exact circumstances. No doubt Henry walked into that very naively though. His life would definitely have taken a different path had he not done that. Would it have been better or worse though? The folk that stayed in Zim cricket from that era have hardly become rich. Most are poor and disillusioned.
Hes implying he's singing for scraps (ironic) on a cruise ship and Flower landed on his feet. Does Flower owe him something from that fateful day? Again I dont know the circumstances. Was he deliberately misled by Flower and Coltart? Again I don't know. I think they were a lot less naive than Henry though.
Whoever persuaded him to wear that armband there must have been a similar number, particularly his family, telling him not to. You'd have to be particularly dumb not to know that life would be different after that, and Henry is a smart guy, I know him and have a bunch of mutual friends.

Those cruise ship people earn good money, I know that for certain. The number of Zimbos working on ships and yachts is astonishing actually . Its a huge thing amongst the younger whites here. Pretty sure a damned good singer earns good money.

What has been interesting is AC commentating on this game.
That clearly has pressed some buttons as well. The usual accusations of AC having stolen millions.
No Tino and Ed. I saw some media posts about that being racist.

Same old soap opera.
