How is Burl not a test shoe in? He’s a much better batter than Wesley, and a better bowler. Gun fielder, too.

The amount of complete passengers we are tallying up in our last few series is impressive.
Burl hasn't played much red ball. ZC are very determined to stick to the domestic stats thing. Whilst we all know he has the ability, his stats dont stack up, and they really dont.
The sleight of hand is how long he must play domestic for before they will consider him.
I mean the likelihood of him topping the leaderboard is not fantastic and it seems you need to be top 3 to be considered.
They could justify keeping him out for good. The whole thing is gravely flawed. The savage beatings are going to continue, Im afraid.
He's one of the best examples of this stats thing being problematic. Everyone knows he can play at this level, but there are many guys ahead of him in domestic that simply can't and will never ever be able to.
That whole NZ bowling unit is going to cause us huge problems.
They keep pushing Madhevere because technically hes good.
Tsiga is under fire. Their golden boy, Clive just doesnt stack up, but that hasnt stopped his selection. Maru seems out of favor, but they are going to revisit him very soon, they have to. The keeping spot is a massive massive problem. It's a low bar for Madande, he needs 15-20 in one of 4 innings to get an extended opportunity.
The one guy who might be decent, but they may have to be a little patient is Matt Welch, but they wont let him near the squad.

We dont have the players to see different players in different formats. One here and there yes, but these completely different looking squads havent worked and wont work, but I dont see them changing their policies.

Welch will be the scapegoat I’m afraid. Doubt his fiery personality is appreciated by the egoistic lot at the top. He should be given a good run at white ball, his preferred format in my eyes.
Well he's definitely an all formats player. He'd be better suited at 5 in red ball, but you have to earn that right. There's no escaping his 3 50's, its the single figures in-between that might be his undoing. So far he's getting 50 one in four, which is about as good a start as anyone we've seen actually, but that's gonna be ignored. He has worked damned hard at tightening up his game.

The motives for keeping him out of the T20's are deep.
Stats are the excuse. NPL stats dont count, so he will have to wait for the one week of Franchise T20 and knock it out the park, probably this year and the next to get a look in. I'm sure they will engineer to keep him out of the T10 again as well.
He's one of about 3 batsmen we have that can pinch hit at this level. He can despatch good balls. Just needs a free run with a clear head but I dont think we will see him in this format until after the WC or some retirements and a lot more savage losses to big teams. Unfortunately someone is going to get a run a ball 15 or 20 or a 9 off 5 against Rwanda and he may not play at all.

Anyone with a link to the post match presser? It's conspicuously absent.

Anyone with a prediction for our next line-up?
They surely have to give Dion a go?
Tsiga may as well be given a run. Madande struggling they were not anticipating. Its thrown the cat amongst the pigeons in all formats.
Toni was unlucky today, we need to see him. You can tell in a few overs if a guy has the game. This NZ bowling line-up is hectic.

The problem is that this team, or a slight variation thereof is likely to get us thru the qualifiers and then it will be our WC team. That is nothing to look forward to.

Maposa looked strong. Was quietly impressed actually. A real athlete. Just not convinced with Madande, at all.

There's a planet size hole in the keeping department and it's starting to become more and more apparent. Is Gumbie well and truly out of the mix now

I'm not suggesting Overlord, but he's one of the few guys who can cope at this level.
Maru isnt in the squad and hasnt prepped so that would be a tough ask.
They're going to have to give Clive the final game and hope he comes good against Rwanda and Ghana.

The keeping spot for the tests will be interesting. Tsiga unfortunately hasnt done well. He's averaging 9 after 12 innings. It's surely either Overlord or Maru in the reckoning.
Overlord is probably a better keeper and we know he's got the defence at this level.
Clive has only played a couple of tests so they may still go with him.

Just watched the highlights.

We do only look like we have a few T20 batsman.

Musekiwa can defs hit a ball but needs to figure out his hitting zones.

I suspect either him or Tony will be dropped for the next game. Which is probably unfair.

Our bowling in the power plays has been good across every game.
