What a gem Zimbabwe had! Truly one of the most underrated cricketers in the cricketing world. His departure from ZC was always going to be painful, but ZC had already come to their conclusion.

There’s definitely more to the story behind the scenes as to why ZC made that decision, especially since that hasn’t been the case with other druggies. Who were not voluntarily been in the rehab center, until they got positive results from doping test.

Anyway, I wish him all the best, and hopefully he’ll find himself in a much better place

What a blow!

:o

Zimbabwe had just experienced Ballance revolving door; it is just beginning to enjoy the return of Taylor victim of ICC insane anticorruption policy; now Williams ruled out.

It's really a pity.
Thanks to him for all he has done to the national team in the past two decades

Something a little off about this. He's done this before and it's never been an issue. Let's see what comes out of the woodwork. There's quite a lot of pressure not to have too many old white guys. We definitely dont need Cremer and Taylor's renaissance is objectionable to a lot of people.

The only guy we needed was Sean. There's a whiff of......
can't put my finger on it. Just have to figure who's stabbed Williams in the back. I can take an educated guess.

And it just so happens to be coming up to the end of his contract. Williams was one of the guys that kept me interested in Zimbabwe around the 2006/07 era, when so many shit players were in the side.

Him, Brent, Taylor, Chigumbura and Taibu were the only bright lights. He's going to be dearly missed. What a shame. I felt like he still had a lot to offer in the T20 side, too. Nick Welch should be there or there abouts now, or Ben Curran.

Thank you for everything Willo. I have a memory palace of you as a young kid, especially on that 2008 tour to Pakistan. What a player. The best since Flower in my opinion

I mean he has a very long history of withdrawing himself from selection and making himself unavailable when ICC anti-dopers fly into the country. So you know, that’s not great. And obviously everybody involves know his history with substances - it’s been an open secret for at least a decade.

I’m pleased for him that he has gone to rehab, I hope it does him good.

Also it’s Sean Williams so you can never be sure it is the end. We’ve been here before. Always a chance he turns up again at some point and unretires.

Anyway he’s one of the true all time greats. Easily in our top three cricketers of all time. An absolute legend. Tragic if he really doesn’t play for us ever again. Deserved a proper send off.

No surprises here. Very very disappointed but not surprised. Has any other test playing nation ever had to deal with consistent player walkouts/ protests/withdrawals/bans/comebacks? It's been like this for 25 years.

The key issue here is that without Williams I am not seeing the net benefit of keeping the older guys around until 2027 as things stand. We have to be honest. In fact there will be zero benefit if Raza gets injured, which at their ages is a real possibility. It makes a lot more sense to throw Welch, Curran and maybe an import like Byrom or Higgins straight into the fire. That's the honest truth.
