Re: ICC T20 World Cup Squad Announcement
No real surprises there, to be honest. I don't see the attraction of having either Dion Myers or Madande in the squad. I really do rate Myers and I think there's a place for him opening in ODI cricket. He's got a solid technique, despite the crouch before the ball is bowled and he clearly has a good head on his shoulders. But neither he nor Clive have shown that T20 cricket is their strength. Happy to be proven wrong.
Seeing Cremer and Taylor in the squad would have, once upon a time, been cause for excitement. But as it stands, I just feel they're stopping the next generation coming through, more so BT. He's looked wildly off the pace and Cremer in Pakistan looked quite hitable.
Musekiwa does have the ability to hit a big ball, so I'm not completely against his inclusion, although the clock is ticking. Munyonga I used to be a massive advocate for as he has a decent little technique, but he has consistently failed. I've heard good things about his work ethic, his desire to improve and his character in general, but he doesn't make the best 15 let alone starting XI.
Maposa I think has something and is evidently a great athlete, but he had a shocker in Pakistan. I'm hoping the experience benefited him but his record isn't great.
Happy to see Mazakadza there as he does keep it tight, although his batting has fallen off a cliff of late.
Overall, not a bad squad, but they're missing the marquee name of Sean Williams to combat those middle overs of spin. That's what worries me, here; who's going to negate those overs but also keep the run rate up.
Glad Evans is in but Jesus, he needs to sort his batting out. For a bloke who has got so much natural ability with the bat and who can hit it as hard as he can, he's massively undersold himself in the opportunities he's been given.

Very strong squad
Re: ICC T20 World Cup Squad Announcement
So what was the point of bringing these T20's forward and having this second round next week?
I'll say it again, falls on spiteful ears that clearly dont care whether we win or lose. I've now realized that winning or even competing is not a priority. Munyonga and Madande are not good enuf for international duty against top tier sides and they never will be. Its almost pointless posting their combined 60 single figure scores again. If Jesus coaches them for the next 2 years and cheats they won't make it. Maru and Dion are currently marginal, maybe Jesus will shower them with blessings whilst they chew up another 100 internationals. They have a sniff. How many games does Musekiwa need to live up to his hype? He can't play spin and has a high score of 28 in 32 internationals with 8 six's. One every 4 games. Sorry but he can't hit a long ball very often. And we collapse most times so he gets plenty opportunities. He can smoke a half volley, but so can I.
Cremer and Taylor have sucked such an extraordinary amount of c#*k for this opportunity that only some grade A marching dust will give them the courage to look in the mirror again. For shame! They have the spines of a gummy bear.
Go away ffs.

I'm with you on Musekiwa, he has played a lot of T20 internationals against shit teams and still can't clear the fence.Googly wrote: ↑Fri Jan 02, 2026 5:38 pmSo what was the point of bringing these T20's forward and having this second round next week?

If for some reason Madande was selected in a South African XI or the Australian XI he would be batting down at number 11.
Re: ICC T20 World Cup Squad Announcement
On a level playing field Madande would not make SA u14.
Sorry man.

Re: ICC T20 World Cup Squad Announcement
Hate to say this but even Luke Jongwe was better than Musikewa and Madhevere is a better option than Marumani, Madande or Myers.
Curran ahead of Taylor and Mavuta (if he is still around) or any bloody spinner ahead of Cremer would have been good.
I'm assuming Naqvi is simply not considered but is he eligible now at the start of the new year?
