T20 has never been his strength, but I think he should stay until the WC nek year.

Obviously a big NRR would have been ideal. In saying that, Taylor came in when we gave away two very cheap wickets, Bennett was not set, and Oman had all the momentum. He had to consolidate, which he did, and then Bennett took over. Ideally would have liked him to pick it up an over or two earlier, but Taylor is 40, we can't expect him to be the way he was in the past.
It's basically a clear sign of the lack of progress we are making in this regard. We know there are players back home in Zim that should be selected, but ZC are clearly still not doing it properly, so we'll keep having these issues where we do something like not reading the game properly, or having players come in to consolidate because we had some loose heads before.

If there is an injury that rules out a player for the entire tournament then the player can be replaced in the squad.

Looking like rains and a point in the bag

Mawoza must be doing his rain dance. Australia are already having a late start to the tournament without rain intervening.

It's pretty clear that BT has a big role to play in the ODI team. T20s just aren't his thing. Same goes for Craig. I expect our ODI team to be very competitive with the addition of Curran, BT and Craig. Home World Cup too. They might surprise a few people. Williams is the obvious big loss.

BT would have been better to come to this world cup as a consultant like Ballance was for the England test.TapsC2 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 11, 2026 5:05 amIt's pretty clear that BT has a big role to play in the ODI team. Hopefully we play plenty of ODI cricket before the world cup but i like to see world where BT and Ervine are used more as bench strength.

BT is going nowhere, using Zim as his personal sports club. He may end up being the first 70 year old playing international cricket, closely followed by Raza.

Bangladesh would have absolutely gotten thrashed at this world cup. We have guys scoring 17, 18, 19 runs in super overs and still losing. Even Nepal is racking up 180 totals. Scotland and Netherlands can always pull a surprise, and then Ireland and Zimbabwe can also beat anybody on their day.
