Green wickets tend to seam and swing. Meth's control and ability in swinging the ball will be better suited on that type of surface than Shingi. Not that Shingi wouldn't also be aided by the surface.

If its a green top then shouldent we play four bowlers and play and extra batsman, i.e drop Chigumbura!!!

Interesting. I guess the other thought would be that we would need four seamers in that case, and I can't see Price being excluded...

You wouldn't need more than three seamers on a green top. You almost always need a spinner.

I'm itching for them to throw in Cremer ahead of Price! :D

Should've been tussling with Cephas&Gupo(Eagles) instead, so he might as well earn the holiday! Alongside Shingi, Jarvis, Vitori & Meth/Elton, we should be alright don't you think!

One of Taylor, Hami, Taibu & Waller, the so called senior/better players should open. Apparently they can do better job as openers! At least that's what the selectors think.

An opener wasn't available and they decided to choose one from a group of players who are big cowards when it comes to facing anything close to the new ball at FC(Zim) level! Look at Vusi now, it's not easy, and I wouldn't be surprised if all our national team batsmen averaged less than half of what Duffin's averaging this season, if they also opened for their franchises! Vusi has no mental/emotional/confidence problems, just the reality that guys like Duffin are actually doing an outstanding job! Something all these guys have failed to measure up to for years and chose slide down the order instead!

Averaging 27 for the season (as Duffin does) is not doing an outstanding job. No matter what mitigating factors you may like to present in his favour, no one could possibly describe 243 runs in 10 innings @ 27.00 as 'outstanding'!

He's the only player who's opened in all innings this season, and therefore the best opener in Zim FC cricket! He averages the best among openers, and has the best balls faced per innigs ratio, to prove that he can really soften the ball, and ensure that on average the next man will come in towards the end of the first session, and with about 70-80 runs on the board!

If you doubt his international credentials, might I remind you that he is unrivalled as an opener, by any of the current(plus countless past) set of players!
Including Bangladesh
Excluding Bangladesh
Not Opening

spilt milk! i don't think they have any choice but to hand it to Hammie ... the only other guy who has done well -at Zim FC level- at the top (ie #3) is Mutizwa and he didn't get his tour off to much of a start did he? So, hammie it is, Taylor will not be given that duty considering the runs he's getting lower down so he will be protected. Good luck Hammie ...

must say too that it this point it doesn't seem to matter too much between the bowlers as long as Price is in the team ....
