Greatest wins in the post-rebel era.
I always consider the series against Kenya at the beginning of 2006 to be the beginning of the new era... the experienced hands like Taibu, Carlisle, Blignaut, Streak had left by then, it was at that time ZC left Test cricket and Duffin was appointed captain.
Given that as the starting date (and please throw in your two cents if you feel it should be at a different point in time!), what do you think are Zimbabwe's greatest wins (or cricket moments) since the beginning of the post-rebel era?

1. Zim vs Bang at HSC when Taylor Hit the lat ball for six there was a Hattrick in that game athat included Elton Chigs and one of my friends left the ground at that moment and Must have heard the roar on his way back into town when we won! Mupariwa played a good role with the bat as well.
2. Zim vs Aus T20 Int.
3. When we chased India's 290 runs at HSC in a Tri Series with Sri

We didn't win, but the game against South Africa in 2007, when Taibu scored 109, where we were a matter of runs of the south african's set target.

Was a great game to watch. Sibanda played out of his skin for that 41 up at the top, he absolutely destroyed Nytini!

Thats up there with my favourite as well. Vusi has that knack of taking a liking to a bowler and taking him out the game.sloandog wrote:We didn't win, but the game against South Africa in 2007, when Taibu scored 109, where we were a matter of runs of the south african's set target.

For me, there is one win that stands above all others - the Test win against Bangladesh. It proved we deserved test status, well at least as much as Bangladesh deserve it. Plus, test wins have been few and far between over all of Zimbabwe's history so every one is cherished. I think I remember every single one of our test victories and where I was when they happened. Test cricket will always remain the greatest challenge of them all.

It is nice that we a have quite a lot of matches to talk about as good wins post rebel era as well. The record run chase last year against NZ in the final ODI with Malcolm Waller's 99* is another match worth mentioning.

This match showed that Shingi is not a death bowler.

Yeah, that Test match was very special. Only Zimbabwe cricket fans would understand the magnitude of that win. That last ball six against Bangladesh in 2006 was incredible though, so it's hard to split the two games. The Test win was the culmination of many years of hard work, it was a professional win characterised by good skill and good execution. The 2006 win was the complete opposite though; Zimbabwe had no business winning that match after a hat-trick saw them about 7 down for 150. You know, that was real backs-to-the-wall stuff from Taylor and Mupariwa but it was a wonderful come from behind victory.eugene wrote:For me, there is one win that stands above all others - the Test win against Bangladesh. I enjoyed the recent tri-series final against South Africa too, although as far as T20s go it still isn't in the same stratosphere as the win over Australia.

I think zimbabwe's win against S.Africa in 1999 world cup should have been the turning point and it remained the turning point for zimbabwe cricket up till 2003 .brmtaylor.com admin wrote:I always consider the series against Kenya at the beginning of 2006 to be the beginning of the new era... the experienced hands like Taibu, Carlisle, Blignaut, Streak had left by then, it was at that time ZC left Test cricket and Duffin was appointed captain.
