how tight is the Deodhar Trophy?
12.4 Odhiambo to Vermeulen, FOUR, that's an appalling long hop, Vermulen had plenty of time to get into position, drink a cup of tea, and pull the ball towards the long leg boundary- his first boundary today

Current schedule (all dates in March):

Sat 14 QF1 - TBC v TBC Venue TBC
Sun 15 1st Semi-Final - Central Zone v Winner QF1 Venue TBC
Mon 16 2nd Semi-Final - TBC v TBC Venue TBC
Wed 18 Final - TBC v TBC Venue TBC

That's from before a Zim team were added to the competition, so presumably there'll be a QF2 between Zim and Central Zone to decide who plays in the 1st semi-final.

I can't help feeling that a match against an Indian Zonal side is going to be a pretty painful affair.

Assuming that the entire 15 man squad on the Bangladesh/Kenya tour remain in Zim for the Canadian ODI's, what does this leave us as a squad to send to India ?

Chibhabha, Maruma, Chakabva, Kasteni, Mahwire, Kamungozi, Garwe, Manyumwa, Charumbira, Tsvanhu, Mujuru, Nyamuzinga, Zhuwawo, Staddon, maybe Hove, Masakadza jnr, Tichana, Chisoro.

I'm sure there are others that i can't think of at the moment but this isn't a very strong group to pick from, i guess the bonuses from being able to take advantage of the Indian Academy are far higher than the result of the Deodhar match.

I would add Waller to that list, I think he may be given a run in India to further his development. I wouldn't be surprised if Dabengwa went either and captained the team.

So you are potentially looking at:

1. Kasteni
2. Staddon
3. Chibhabha
4. Mujuru
5. Dabengwa (c)
6. Waller
7. Chakabva (wk)
8. Mahwire
9. Maruma
10. S. Masakadza
11. Garwe

Or something to that effect.

Those players could probably hold their own to a certain extent. I wouldn't expect miracles, but on a decent pitch I think they should be able to score 200, probably the bulk of it coming from Chibhabha, Waller and Chakabva. Bowling wise, not so strong, more "promising" than anything else.

Good thinking Zimfan1, it would be a pretty good chance for Vermeulen to show what he could do.

Another one i forgot was Muzarabani.

Good to see that Zimbabwe has some more ODIs to come.By playing 4 ODIs against an associate side Canada is a good opportunity for Zimbabwe to clean sweep them by 4-0 and add more 4 winning notes under the belt.It seems that this matches will be played between March 18 to 26 in Harare.

So,I think Zimbabwe has a home series against Sri Lanka before that probably in the late February or in the early stage of March.

Moreover,a side of Zimbabwe will play domestic cricket in India.

A good fixture for the team.I hope more fixtures will come for the team as the more they will play, the more they will get better.

It will be a good thinking to give Mark Vermeulen a chance in the team.I will also pick Keith Dabengwa and Malcolm Waller in the squad.I also think that it will be a 'A' side which will tour to India.

I will select the following squad for India tour:

1.Mark Vermeulen(Capt)
2.Bradley Staddon
3.Justice Chibhabha
4.Malcolm Waller
5.Regis Chakabva(WK)
6.Tafadzwa Ngulube
7.Keith Dabengwa(V-Capt)
8.Blessing Mahwire
9.Trevor Garwe
10.Shingirai Masakadza
11.Tafadzwa Kamangozi
-------------------------------
12.Alois Tichana
13.Tafadzwa Mufambisi
14.Timycen Maruma
15.Admire Manyumwa

Looks like a pretty good side.Batting looks very good with the likes of Vermeulen,Staddon,Chibhabha,Waller.Middle order has got Chakabva,Ngulube,Dabengwa.Bowling department has got experienced Blessing Mahwire.
I think,Tafadzwa Kamongozi is a good spinner who has played some ODIs also.
