I don't think Mawoyo's fitness is up to standard so I won't play him. Making BT keep will put us at risk especially if we bat second in the 1st Innings. It depends on Richmond's perfomance in this current match though. The quicks have done enough to make it to the 2nd Test.jaybro wrote: I still think it will be tough for the quicks to back up so young Vitori or Chinoyua are a chance to play ......
If Chigs doesn't bowl he shouldn't be in just for his batting even though he has played well this match his attacking style cant be relied on ......
Can BRMT keep in a test without missing any chances or effecting his batting ......

If the quicks are fit they should all play but I just think they will be a bit tired after such a big workload .....

Re: Second Test Team Selection
Ok, so realistically it would be a shootout between Vusi and Mawoyo now to get Taylor in. Williams won't be picked and Utseya would be preferred as the spinner. Panyangara might be a question mark with fitness, in which case Chinouya might debut.
But my original line up was best case scenario anyway, daydreaming, you might say...

Mawoyo in danger. Taylor a must. Williams will be difficult to fit back in. Chigs has done well and deserves a spot especially after decent one day form lately.

Re: Second Test Team Selection
The top 3 embarrassed us and despite the lion-hearted efforts of rest of the players we scored our lowest score against Pakistan. What a shame. Heads must roll and those given enough chances in the hope that they may come good must pave way. Tino is having lack of match practice but he will improve on field and not on nets. Moreover he has the guts to play loooooooooonnnnnnnngggggggggggg innings and has done that before. An uneaten century is surely better than a glorious 30. Its a test match with series at stake and not a T20 guys so no more Sibanda for me. Tino must be given a second chance.Jemisi wrote:Mawoyo in danger. Taylor a must. Now lets move on to the forced inclusion-the debutant Raza. With the pressure of running out skipper in last ODI and strange exclusion from T20 and ODI's, this lad saved the face for us by forging a great partnership with Man-of-the-crisis Waller. Their p'ship defined Zimbabwe attitude and that is why we are happy now with our heads held high despite the loss. None of these three (Chigumbura) should be excluded for the simple fact that they performed under tremendous pressure and delivered when needed.
Utseya bowled very well albeit in his limited capacities. Despite having enormous ODI experiece the lad has just 3 test experience. Will Zimbabwe look upto the future and give chance to our future superstars-Mutombodzi and Mushangwe, is a million dollar question.

And here's my first ever featured comment on CricInfo:
Hats off to Zimbabwe for a fabulous performances. It needed guts to shake off the off-field distractions and focus on a test against a quality opposition and that too without two best batsmen and main strike bowler. The fact that Zim won majority of the sessions against the no.4 test team says it all. I am sure with the inclusion of Taylor and Williams, Pak have more headache in store.
Zim selectors are known for their strange selections. The exclusion of Raza probably cost us T20 and ODI series. Here he was on test debut, playing a great innings. Waller and Chigumbura roe to the occasion and our trio of pacers bowled with great heart. Under the performance index Sibanda seems misfit and might have to pay way for Wiliams. Taylor needs to replace Richard for a one-off event to square the series. Mutambani kept well but for the sake of the series he has to make way for the Skipper. Utseya bowled well but we need an attacking leg spinner (Mushangwe) in tests.

The eventful test match is over. Time for ZC to fulfill its commitment, the gentleman's promise-Pay the players now. The whole world is watching. Please allow us to see second test with Taylor, Williams back in the squad.
For all Zim bashers, how many tests have Zim played in last two years? Please invite Zimbabwe for test series. They can only improve by playing and not by net practicing.

Re: Second Test Team Selection
Whoever is selected we must hope for Pak to show signs of the notorious Stockholm syndrome in the next Test after being held hostage by ZC at HSC for weeks without any change of scenery.
