Re: [Match Thread] Zimbabwe v Afghanistan 1st ODI
Plenty of runs on offer today for Taylor now that Sibanda and Masakadza have departed early.

Taylor and Raza look to have to chase back on track, what do we do about Vusi though?

If Mawoyo can't recover in time for the Test against South Africa then Sibanda has to play. Otherwise we could end up with a farcical situation of Maruma and Chakabva opening together or something like that...zimfan1 wrote:Taylor and Raza look to have to chase back on track, what do we do about Vusi though?
Sibanda/Maruma, Sibanda/Chakabva, Sibanda/Raza are much more palatable options because it provides experience at the top. Sibanda and Raza would be a pretty good combination actually.
But if his ODI form doesn't turn around he might find himself out of the limited overs team. Raza/Masakadza/Taylor would be a fine top three.

Raza has retired hurt for 38, however Williams has come in and has started like a train as usual, no doubt sweeping the spinners to all places

Taylor gone.
As long as Williams and Chigumbura can put on a about 50 together we should be okay. Chakabva still to come, and hopefully if necessary Raza could keep batting (he was at the non-strikers when he left the field0.

Not going quite according to plan, but hopefully these two can take us a good way to victory

Charles Coventry would be handy right now. He'd walk out, slog a 15 ball 35 and suck all the pressure right out of the game leaving it to the lower middle order to chase down a modest amount.Jemisi wrote:Not going quite according to plan, but hopefully these two can take us a good way to victory
