I like your thinking. However delusional it may be.brmtaylor.com admin wrote:The new era can start with Zimbabwe's shock Test win against South Africa, further cementing Zimbabwe's position as a titan of Test cricket

Maybe the players have decided to dedicate their loss to Chingoka in return for services rendered over the years!
Peterhouse U14C 4th change bowler and no. 10 batsman (but only because Aaron didn't have a bat).

But maybe Richie is too young to feel the pain as much.

Maruma and Mutumbami can still take Zimbabwe home if these two can bat on for another 10 to 15 overs. 87/6 overs (23.4)

I am by far and away this forum's greatest Richmond Mutumbami fanboy. If he brings this home, I am likely to name name any further children I have (of whatever sex), Richmond!lobsang wrote:Maruma and Mutumbami can still take Zimbabwe home if these two can bat on for another 10 to 15 overs. 87/6 overs (23.4)

Pleased I was able to predict a counterattacking and bright 30 odd by Richmond Mtumbami on twitter while he was on 2. Truth be told, am not alone. Now raising the stakes to 50. Have I also mentioned Elton Chigumbura has never been able to bat under pressure or when he has been badly needed?
Also, au revoir to my former favourite Malcolm Waller. Then door is well and truly closed now, I don't think he will make the Zim A squad for the four day match now, given its going to be against a virtually full strength Zim side, sans Brian Vitori. His sport predictably goes to Richmond. Actually, Regis. That's how far down he's reeled.
On opener still needed, I don't we have both openers either dropped or injured. I expect Raza will open in the test. Who to partner him? That's the biggest problem facing us now

Veremeulen might be a dark horse as far as Test openers go too. He's done it before.
If he gets selected for the four-dayers and happens to go okay, his stocks would rise pretty fast I think.

Maruma struggling to turn over the strike. He's never been great in that department, even for the Mountaineers.
50 for Mutumbami on debut! Something to cheer about. Hooray!
I hope this end the discussion about Zim's first choice keeper for the time being.

Yep, Mutumbami has won the battle.foreignfield wrote:Maruma struggling to turn over the strike. He's never been great in that department, even for the Mountaineers.

And it played out like I said it would too
They gave Chakabva every opportunity to solidify his position and he didn't take it. They bring in Mutumbami and he takes the opportunity with both hands.
It's a bold call, but I reckon he'll convert this one into a century! 58 and counting.
Any stats gurus out there know who the last Zimbabwean to score an ODI fifty on debut was?
I think Raza and Waller both got Test fifties on debut, not sure who has in ODIs though.
Re: [Match Thread] Zimbabwe v Afghanistan, 4th ODI
if these two can bat till the 40th there is a chance for Zimbabwe to script an unlikely win.
