That's quite a good one. Chungamire is Sir. Chunga is slang for good friend, and mealie we all know. Not bad for humor but not a serious name.

The Chevrons just don't cut it. Its a name that remains some of us of the lowest point in Zimbabwe cricket. We had no Test status and our national team proper was reduced to play domestic cricket in another country. That's hardly something one would wanna identify with.

Agree completely.

From Trevor's post on page 1 of this thread:

We can call them "Chapungus" and it would be funny if Bothwell Chapungu makes the national team :)

Chapungu is the Bateleur Eagle, a beautiful and majestic bird. I dont mind the chapungus and infact I am going to call them that from now on.

I'm down with the Chapungus.

Hunters and scavengers! First we hunt them down, and then we pick what's left of them :D

In German the bird is called "Gaukler" which has pretty much the same meaning as "bateleur" in French: a medieval street performer/entertainer/juggler/sleight of hand ... you get the idea.

We could do with a few street-wise performances in this World Cup!

Go chapungus!
