In order to average 25.00
25.00 is the benchmark I think... all batsmen should at least average this. It is still a relatively young squad, so once 25.00 is achieved, then they should aim for 30.00, 35.00 and 40.00.
By the end of this Bangladesh series, I think it is possible for some of our batsmen to achieve an average of 25.00.
Calculations below assume that the batsmen don't have any not out scores, and that they play all 5 innings.
Ranked in order of how likely they are to average 25.00 by the end of the series:
Brendan Taylor
1929 runs at 28.36 - Taylor cannot mathematically drop below 26.42 in this series - Verdict: already there
Sean Williams
851 runs at 30.39 - Williams cannot mathematically drop below 25.79 in this series - Verdict: already there
Forster Mutizwa
124 runs at 41.33 - he keep an average of 25.00 in ODI's if he scores 76 runs at 15.20 ... Verdict: likely
Hamilton Masakadza
1551 runs at 23.86 - he will average 25.00 in ODI's if he scores 199 runs at 39.80 ... Verdict: likely
Elton Chigumbura
1767 runs at 23.87 - he will average 25.00 in ODI's if he scores 208 runs at 41.60 ... Verdict: could go either way
Charles Coventry
199 runs at 19.90 - he will average 25.00 in ODI's if he scores 176 runs at 35.20 ... Verdict: could go either way
Mark Vermeulen
583 runs at 20.82 - he will average 25.00 in ODI's if he scores 242 runs at 48.40 ... Verdict: unlikely
Chamu Chibhabha
928 runs at 22.63 - he will average 25.00 in ODI's if he scores 222 runs at 44.40 ... Verdict: unlikely
Vusi Sibanda
1675 runs at 22.63 - he will average 25.00 in ODI's if he scores 300 runs at 60.00 ... Verdict: unlikely
Keith Dabengwa
433 runs at 19.68 - he will average 25.00 in ODI's if he scores 242 runs at 48.40 ... Verdict: highly unlikely
Stuart Matsikenyeri
1718 runs at 20.95 - he will average 25.00 in ODI's if he scores 457 runs at 91.40 ... Verdict: impossible

Cricinfo say five matches, but I don't trust their reports at the best of times.

BRMT mentioned 'HIGHLY' unlikely verdict for Dabengwa who req 40+ avg but only unlikely verdict for Vusi who needs 60+ to attain 25. Lolz

If you were Sibanda would you like to be grouped with Dabengwa?Dr_Situ(ZimFanatic) wrote:BRMT mentioned 'HIGHLY' unlikely verdict for Dabengwa who req 40+ avg but only unlikely verdict for Vusi who needs 60+ to attain 25. Lolz

If Dabengwa plays any part in the series then we will never get rid of him, i know he is related to someone high up in ZC this must be why he is again and again in the side

Agree...He is in the Zimbabwean team just to frustrate and frustrate us.
I guess, Mark needs to score a century in the series and some good innings around 40's to achieve the average of 25+brmtaylor.com admin wrote:

Re: In order to average 25.00
Why do we pride in mediocrity, you have people who average 20's and they are representing our NATION, anyway such is the way of our lads.Surely cant we get better players or encourage them to perform better. You have people hitting 100's day in day out in our WP 1A league and they do not even play for the WP team they have to go play for Holland etc so I don't get why we should aim low for our boys, They have played 50+ ODI's for their country when does the learning curve end..Surely by now they should be accountable, we all are proffessionals in our own right and imagine going to a client and you are a proffesional consultant and you tell them you still e-learning i mean ,4 years down the line you still learning, I agree with Prosper accountability is key either shape up or shift out!!
