A thought that just occurred to me - most of the appointments that ZC have announced over the summer (Houghton, Waller & co) only take effect from August - if Campbell's appointment is the same, it's possible he may not have had much input in the selection of this squad. Would explain some of the stranger selections.

If that's the case, the first real test of how much independence he's got will be the next series, whenever that is...

Officially Campbell's term is to start on August 1. But considering Makoni has already been replaced as the manager to concentrate on his CEO job, I'd be pretty surprised if Ziehl hasn't been moved along also.

Maybe it was du Preez and the old gang that picked this squad... it's all pretty ambiguous anyway, this 19 man squad could well be the squad that went to Victoria Falls and not the official squad for the Bangladesh tour which was initially supposed to be announced on August 5 at the awards ceremony. Taylor is still going to Bulawayo...

Herd that the squad have reached Vic falls now for a team bonding trip and they have been visting local schools in the area, one which is run by former coach Robin Brown which is nice to see that he is still involved in Zimbabwe cricket through coaching the youngsters as we all know what a disgrace it was that he lost his job

That makes sense. I was also wondering about it. So, I reckon the squad will be cut down into 19 to 14 and will be announced on August 5 along with franchise squads and award winners, as brmtaylor.com admin mentioned. The inclusion of Taylor will be a big boost for Zimbabwe and if Campbell picks the final squad, the mistakes will be eradicated and this is for what the job is given to him.
