Mahbubul and Mehrab in for the 3rd ODI
13 August 2009
Bangladesh's problem with the pace bowling department is mounting as Nazmul Hossain became the latest casualty in the long list after suffering a thigh strain during practice at Bulawayo today. He has been ruled out for the 3rd ODI and Bangladesh has opted for Mahbubul Alam to share the new ball with Syed Rasel.
Bangladesh has made another change in the playing XI that defeated Zimbabwe in the last two matches as Zunaid paid the price of his poor form and will be replaced my Mehrab Hossain Jr.. Mehrab will also strengthen the bowling department with his useful slow left arm bowling. Mehrab's last ODI was against the same opposition in the home series earlier this year.
Two changes for Bangladesh XI in 3rd ODI
Re: Two changes for Bangladesh XI in 3rd ODI
With the exclusion of two most front liners in bowling department (Murtaza and Razzak), Bangladeshi attack is already a second grade from the Bangladesh point of view. And now, missing Nazmul will further weaken Bangladesh bowling strength. He was bowling well in first 2 ODIs with variation in pace and good line and length.

Robin is a good swing bowler. May not be as effective as Nazmul but capableof taking wickets. Anyway with inclusion of Mehrab their will now be 5 spinners : Enamul, Saqib, Mahmudullah, Nayeem & Mehrab.syedmahm wrote:With the exclusion of two most front liners in bowling department (Murtaza and Razzak), Bangladeshi attack is already a second grade from the Bangladesh point of view. I think it is a good decision to replace Zunaed with Mehrab. But it remains to be seen how Mehrab adjusts in a One day Mode He is basically a test batsman. If he can get anchored at one end and let Tamim play more freely then it may be a worthwhile move.
But I can assure you the next one will be a close one. Zimbabwe is sure to make appropriate changes to get optimum results. It is a Make or Break situation for them. They will certainly go flat out for a win.
Best of Luck to both the teams!

Re: Two changes for Bangladesh XI in 3rd ODI
It was just a stupid idea to drop Zunaed from the team. Though he wasn't getting big runs, he was timing the ball with perfection and was full of confidence.
Mehrab Jnr is basically a test batsman. I'm not at all impressed with his spin. It was economical okay but he isn't a wicket taker. Going with him for 10 overs is just rubbish. Mahmudullah bowled 2 overs and Naeem didn't bowl at all. I think, Mahmudullah and Naeem could have taken some wickets. I have no problem if they give away some runs but take wickets in regular intervals.
If Zunaed was there, Bangladesh could have built a good foundation. Tamim-Zunaed opening partnership has been so far good for Bangladesh batting prospective.
I can tolerate Bangladesh lossing against Zimbabwe. It's cricket, so win-loss will come. I want to see competitive cricket and show actually what you are capable of. I really can't understand including Mehrab even now.

What think you of this change to the Bangladesh squad that was mentioned in the Cricinfo commentary?
BCB media release: "Pace bowler Dollar Mahmud will leave Dhaka tonight to join the Bangladesh Squad in Zimbabwe. Mahmud is going as replacement for Rubel Hossain who has been ruled out of the ongoing series due to a side strain. Mahmud is due to reach Bulawayo tomorrow"

Rubel Hossain is injured. So he is flying back to Bangladesh. Dollar Mahmud will be a backup pacer for the series. He has got a chance of being selected if any of the pacers bowl very badly in the next match. But for now, Bangladesh will stick with Rasel and Alam. Mahbubul has got good swing just needs to be economical a bit. For Dollar, he has been proved very expensive in the ODI's (Econ 9+) but has got good domestic stats.
