Utseya is only costing the team 0.30rpo more than Williams, but clearly would have taken more than 3 times the amoutn of wicekts Williams has taken, and probably scored the same amount of runs with his bat seeing as his average for the last seven years is about the same as Williams' form average sinc ethe CWC.CrimsonAvenger wrote: Just putting up a stat from the same filter. Post world cup, only 4 people have conceded less than 5 an over. Williams, Nyumbu, Chibhabha and Hammy. Hammy being the most economical and Williams having bowled the second most number of overs of all the bowlers on display.

Zim lost a quick wicket. Craig Ervine rested. Where was Sean Williams?

Re: SEAN WILLIAMS WATCH SINCE CWC15
One thing I think bavuma_rabada and I agree upon is that Sean Williams needs to step up and become the leader of this side, much like BRMT did. Williams frequently plays complimentary 50s and so on but more recently it has been Ervine leading the charge to victory. Maybe giving him the captaincy as bavuma_rabada called for will propel to become the leader of this side that we need him to be? I believe Williams is our most talented player and believed that even when BRMT was still around.

Its true for any batsman, but I think Sean in particular is temperamental and is affected by the mindgames of cricket. Not as bad as Vusi and Hammy but still affected.

Re: SEAN WILLIAMS WATCH SINCE CWC15
Sean scored a patient fifty in the lost dead rubber again Ireland. His knee injury prevented him from bowling, and he missed the first two games against Afghanistan.
He was able to bowl today and got two wickets - one of them to kickstart the wickets when Shahzad lost his marbles. He made 39 in this match, 13 short of the runs he conceded. Unfortunately, his poor and frustrating trend of failing to put up a significant score while a Series is still to be decided continues, no other batsman has had as much trouble. This is Zimbabwe's 6th competitive Series in which his bat hasn't had an audible say in the results!
Thursday will provide him with a chance to rectify that unless of course Zimbabwe lose. Otherwise it's off to Bangladesh where he will have a further opportunity in the first 3 matches.
Batting: 15 Matches, 355 Runs Scored, 27.30 Average, 2 Fifties
Bowling: 15 Matches, 501 Runs Conceded, 5 Wickets, 100.20 Average, 121.6 Strike Rate
Nett benefit to the team: -146 Runs
Considering he has no century in well over a hundred matches, with the runs he's conceded while bowling(that have yielded just 30 odd wickets) fast approaching the career runs he's scored, it's quite conceivable that Sean Williams will be remembered more as one of the worst spinners to have graced the game than a batsman. His bowling certainly means it will be impossible to remember him as an allrounder. His batting average has been on a steady decline, so much that he'll hardly feature among batsman discussions either, without the likes of Chris Harris feeling aggrieved, unless he gets at least a couple of Test 50s before he retires.

Re: SEAN WILLIAMS WATCH SINCE CWC15
Why do you subtract his bowling runs conceded from his batting runs scored. That is completely nonsensical and arbitrary. Williams has an ODI average higher than Hamilton's just for the record.

Re: SEAN WILLIAMS WATCH SINCE CWC15
Because a part-timer scores more runs than he concedes, and a tailender concedes more runs than they score, but of course bundles more wickets. It helps me keep track of what exactly he's contributing in the team. He's clearly being overbowled for no good reason, and that ineffective bowling is what's been keeping him in the ODI team really over that period.eugene wrote:Why do you subtract his bowling runs conceded from his batting runs scored.
