Re: [Series Thread] Zimbabwe A v Bangladesh A in Zimbabwe
The rot started when "the rebels/aka freedom fighters" were sacked. A history and spirit of winning and dominance and decades of experience went overnight. Since then teams have been blasted. Mentally players do not have the spunk. In fact the mental game is so mental players celebrate after losing because they know a win is far off. Which accentuates the subconscious desire to lose in order to celebrate.

Chari caught and bowled in the second over...in all honesty, on the basis on his performances in the A tour, he shouldn't even be in the A side.
Peterhouse U14C 4th change bowler and no. 10 batsman (but only because Aaron didn't have a bat).

Totally agree, what does it say to other hopefuls when you can play like a total idiot and retain your place, ZC at its worstMing wrote:Chari caught and bowled in the second over...in all honesty, on the basis on his performances in the A tour, he shouldn't even be in the A side.

With an FC avg of 19.36 now, there is no way he should be getting another look in ahead of Burl, Gumbie and Kasuza at the very least.

Lets see how he does in the 2nd innings. First class average is low but so are many players and that hasn't stopped ZC from selecting them. The stupid stumping came as a surprise - he seemed to have an even temperament, and sound defence. Keeping my fingers crossed Hami can make a big one today. And hopefully Burl. Goodness knows we need another youngster to make us sit up and notice. We haven't seen any since Kevin Kasuza and Forster Mtizwa, who both didn't kick on after their initial promise.

Yeah the lack of batsmen coming through is a problem.Conant wrote:Lets see how he does in the 2nd innings. Here's every ODI cap since 2010. Lots of bowlers, not many batsmen.
I think we can all agree Raza and Ervine are the only good batsmen to come out of the last 5 years (by virtue of the fact that they are the only batsmen from that group who are automatic selections and have good records).GA Lamb - average
SW Masakadza
CR Ervine - good
IA Nicolson
BV Vitori
N Mushangwe
N Ncube
TL Chatara
Sikandar Raza - good
MT Chinouya
DT Tiripano
R Mutumbami - average
LM Jongwe
N Madziva
J Nyumbu
SF Mire - average
PJ Moor - bad
R Kaia - ?
BB Chari - bad
WP Masakadza
T Muzarabani
TS Chisoro
The great irony is that the batsman who has shown the most promise in the last year or so is not a specialist like Moor or Chari, it's in fact been Jongwe who still seems more like a bowling allrounder at this point.

50 for Moor
I think it would be wrong to say that he hasn't shown much promise or hasn't improved but yes, he would be needing a good domestic season too in order to make it to the national side.......

Ok, this is more like it...

50s for both Masakadza and Moor, now's the time to get their heads down and make some proper runs like Taylor and Williamson have done today for NZ
