don't know why this has turned into a big issue. if a man is playing well then he is playing well. not saying he is the best player we have. I am certainly a person who has doubted his ability and technique but we also can't just say 50 off 51 was terrible if we look at the context of the match and everyone else around him was not backing him up. he could have also given his wicket away but in this specific situation it is a decent knock.
he still has to personally win me over with some bigger performances but to me this is good and the introduction of PJ Moor along with the progress being made by Gumbie can only motivate guys like Chakabva and Mutumbami to play better. A competitive environment is what we need. we only have about 16 or 17 national players. that number needs to go to between 25-30 for any real progress to be made. the batting is becoming more and more competitive as seen by Ervine not making the cut in this format. its the bowling where we have real problems when 2 unfit players like chatara and Panyangara can just literally walk back into the team.
