the best fastest bowler in zimbabwe history
Re: the best fastest bowler in zimbabwe history
HSC is where 90% of the cricket happens in Zimbabwe. The traffic of cricketers there is extraordinary, I'm not exaggerating when I say it runs into the hundreds. Please tell me why nobody pays a single cent towards membership fees, towards the upkeep of the nets etc? Everybody stands around and expects somebody else to pay. There's not even a cricket section, I think it's run by ZC. The club cricketers can't even ask the groundsman to prepare a single grass net for them because they don't contribute one single cent to their upkeep. Nobody can even get a roster going of the dozens of pseudo coaches that charge 5-10 bucks a session, nor does there appear to be the will to get them to part with $1 of this towards maintenance. The real trick would be stopping the guy collecting this money from actually taking it. If KC was alive he would have locked those nets and there would have been temporary law and order until somebody said he was doing it to prevent blacks playing cricket and then he would have had to hand his key back and be banished to Mountaineers.

Thanks googly for telling the truth as it is , we can't have clubs without a ground , what happens when zc want to donate kit ,the kit would most probably be sold How many clubs use Prince Edward as their home ground . OH and Alex grounds are not as they used to be . The league doesn't even have a website or stats that are published but there is a certain development guy who built takashinga who doesn't give a f--- to be honest the friendlies league is more organised even though it's for guys playing for a pint afterward they even have a website .just because a white zimbo has pointed out what's wrong u don't have to be angry or threaten not to shake hands
Re: the best fastest bowler in zimbabwe history
In fact something I said jogged my own memory. I think if someone cares to dig deeper they will see that there is someone that selectively collects money for lane hire and I will guarantee it's not receipted. C'mon somebody blow the whistle please.
Prince Edward grounds are also not what they were. The old headmaster has moved to St. George's, which, lo and behold, is looking better than ever. There is actually a common denominator to excellent, we'll run facilities, and no bullshit, we just have to put our heads together and figure out what it is.

Re: the best fastest bowler in zimbabwe history
Oh wow . You went to town. As a point of order and fact let me correct you and tell you of my very own expirience of a white club and how my club has struggled year in and out to find a permanent home. I was a member of OGs between 1998 and 2004 and paid my Zim subs till i left for South Africa and on my return the first place i went to join a club was OG's only to be told that i would have to reapply and wait for a response from the members and committee. 6 months down the line no response but funny enough when i walked into the office following up on my application and request for a refund 2 sets of white families walked out with member ship cards after waiting 1 week some double standard and thus i join Rainbow. For the past 1 and half seasons we as a club have hired OGs a home ground at USD 100 a game . Initially we had agreed at $50 and after seeing the darkies the poor club manager called me in and said the cricket committee wanted $100 and back i went to our members and sponsor and we rasied the $ 900 for nine league fixtures which we used to complete the season and win this years league. In the background through the members of our club and our sponsor we committed $ 1 500 to resurrect the nets at OGs plus purchased a bowling machine as part of an offer that we made to allow us to continue using the ground letter dated 26 June 2015 to date no response. The offer included having 6 of our members pay the subs in two lots for use of facilites between September and March 6 months for full membership to date no response. You can say i have a chip on a my shoulder coz clearly because im a black man and willing to support a slowly dying club with dwindling numbers as white members leave Zimbabwe should allow more access for black folk who want to have the status of being club member are shuned away coz of old archaic beliefs.
And as for forcing black boys to go and join HSC or Country Club kindly advise me where does a kid raise $ 330 to be a member .And if he does he will be a token player who will be constantly playing 12th or 13th man or when he plays worse players bat or bowl ahead of him. Whats the point when you are not allowed to shine.

There's not much I can write to change your way of thinking, if anything what I say merely hardens your opinions, but I do need to set a few things straight.
I can't speak about your situation specifically, but I'm going to find out. I feel I have a responsibility to speak the truth.
I suspect OG's don't want you having "your" club taking over OG's. You are missing the point of this completely. The object is to get OG's Club cricket going, and not "your" club with 10 of your black mates under the guise of OG's.
If you are stating that your black (so politically incorrect!) club gets charged double what the white boys get charged at OG's I advise you to call Chinotimba and his men and you will own that place by nightfall. I will join the raiding party. Of course you won't do that because what you are saying is deliberately misleading.
As for your membership application, again I can't speak specifically but I can guarantee they don't want you there (I can see why!), but it cannot be on the basis of your skin colour. There is no institution left in Zimbabwe that would dare do that, certainly not towards blacks, but in the other direction it's daily, hourly in fact! The most discriminatory country in the world where you are not allowed to own something on the basis of colour. I have to go to a black owned hair dressing salon who don't know how to deal with straight hair because white women are not legally allowed to own one. It's a disgrace.
It's the whole purpose of a club and memberships. They are not open to everybody, they have a right to choose who they want to drink and play with and they are giving you a resounding NO!
There is no way you left your application at the reception along with your membership and waited 6 months in vain for an answer. Why would you not sit down with Lance MB, who heads up the cricket section and make your pitch? He would probably say no because he can see a problem from 1000 paces. I happen to know that they want little to do with ZC and their racist policies, which is why I'm sure you never did the obvious. I'm sure they settled for second prize to allow you to play there for 100 bucks so you couldn't play the race card. They clearly want little to do with the real racists and want to be left in peace. 200 times bitten, finally shy!
So why persevere with pulling a coup at OG's cricket when it's already under someone else's control? Their silence means "no please go quietly away and leave us and don't pull the race card!"
Go to Zimbank or Standard Bank and resurrect their facilities. That 1500 bucks you purport to have on standby is more than enough to build a three lane concrete net anywhere you like as well, so build those at a place under your permanent direct control where you never have to pay a further cent to anybody.

You have raised one valid point, and that's the price of membership. You've raised 1500 for nets, I'm prepared to guarantee that amount, well negotiated, will secure you a block membership at a club. You would now require commitment from your team mates and they would really have something to play for. Why call your team Rainbow? Call it the White Haters, or the Chimurenga Changamires, the Black Mambas or something equally inflammatory? Or better still Standard Bank CC. Wow.
Re: the best fastest bowler in zimbabwe history
The picture you are painting of an uber talented black guy from the ghetto raising his last 330 bucks to join an elite white club (there aren't any!) in order to be noticed and then spending the season bringing on dry gloves and drinks for his masters for the season is really funny. I will bet your favourite movie is Django unchained!!
Re: the best fastest bowler in zimbabwe history
If Django played cricket at OG's boozers league he'd bat at 12.
Re: the best fastest bowler in zimbabwe history
you did not seriously raise 1500 from your people for OG's nets when they won't even speak to you, have you? Maybe your people should have someone else in charge of their loot and their PR?
Re: the best fastest bowler in zimbabwe history
My guess is that they need weeding, top dressing, rest period, cut and roll. That doesn't cost $1500?
What really pisses me off is that we had the best guy in the business doing all of this for ZC but they cocked that up yet again by not supporting him on a racial charge against a known thief and trouble maker. If you have lived here for more than a week you will have been inflicted by a dose of it. It's no reason not to work together and get on with it and even have a laugh.
