Loooool.. The vitrol you're spewing gladly remains just that, an opinion.. Cricket is a sport for all and whether you like it or not it will remain that way in Zimbabwe.. Move on and be happy than post "hate"/ "politically incorrect" speech, which goes against the agreement, you agreed to when you signed up on this forum (*ahem* Admin please act)....
And back to the topic, Heath Streak is the best fastest bowler ever!! No other seamer or out and out quicky can be deemed world class. Nkala hell No, Jarvis hell No. A five wicket haul doesn't suddenly make you a superstar.. If that was the criteria Vitori is next best after Streak, Curran, Olonga and Brandes.. The 4 I mentioned were genuine fast bowlers not Jarvis who bowled quick for one game of his career and is deemed lightning quick lol.. Matigimu should be thrown into the system(Zim A) and Bidi (current quickest bowler [others might argue its Alinesi] should play franchise).. Gargamel why didn't your club help Bidi?? With such raw pace its one thing to claim you're helping to develop cricket yet you're sidelining a talented bowler and call him "screwed in the head." lol

Re: the best fastest bowler in zimbabwe history
The word is vitriol. It's not a sport for all, therein lies the problem.

Im done . I will not joust and make myself a fool any longer on old racial issues and grudges it moves the game backwards and i will not drag my beloved Rainbow Cricket Club's name in the mud. I will put my shoulder to the wheel and get a home ground not through coups , land grabs but through hard work aluta continua moving cricket forward is what i will do whether Googly and his racist cronies like it or not we shall get it right one day and i will see Zimbabwe lift an ICC Under 19 and senior mens trophy before i die

Re: the best fastest bowler in zimbabwe history
I will start this post by saying it is a shame that googly and gargamel are potentially taking a hiatus as a result of this issue. They are both on the ground and seem to care about Zim cricket. I do not post here much but I enjoy reading both their input very much.
I also will be the first to admit that I do not live on the ground so do not have a full understanding of the situation. What I will say is that I do think OGs or whomever have the right to admit who they like. Would gargamel have been admitted if her as white, probably. I also think that gargamel and his team have every right to be in the top league. So they don't have a ground?? That is not their fault. You leave them with a Hobson's Choice - you don't want them at your club (fine) then you can't complain if they set up as a wandering side. At the same time, it behooves the wandering side to respect their hosts, which may not have been happening.
I also think googly, you were quick to tarnish gargamel with the racist card. I felt this was presumptious and you were quick to bring this to the basest (and most tedious) level. I think you are a little better informed than that.
I would be interested in how you would want Rainbow to solve this? Without resorting to claiming they have chips on their shoulders. Similarly, I would be intrigued to know from you gargamel, if you think there is any basis to what googly says. Forsooth, there are kernels of truth in every stereotype. That is why they are there.

Why can't clubs open teams up to non-members? In most countries cricket is played on publicly owned land anyway. The idea of sports clubs seem rather antiquated in this day and age.

Your post all up was a good one, but this is a very silly thing to just throw in there willy nilly as a throwaway line. It just fans the fire. Without having any idea, by your own admission, you've just reinforced that OG's are racist and dont allow blacks in.ZIMFAN wrote:I also will be the first to admit that I do not live on the ground so do not have a full understanding of the situation. Like Googly said, do you REALLY think that any institution in Zimbabwe would really do that?
There is also no basis of evidence for that. Little things like that lead to ZC style race purges. Remember this isnt New York, this is an actual minority that have experienced alot of racial discrimination the last few years.

Re: the best fastest bowler in zimbabwe history
I told you before, im not speaking on their behalf, as I don't know the actual circumstances, but I'm just supposing they don't think it's in the club's interests to have a league side there. They maintain their own ground and are therefore autonomous. you can't have new members join and then say- by the way we're starting our own side and we're doing our own selecting, and our side is not called OG's, which is essentially what they want to do. If by prior arrangement they agree then that's fine, but nobody wants to be blindsided. I guess their current arrangement works where they use the facilities as a group but then have no say as they don't pay the prescribed subs. Mliswa tried that many years ago to try and gain control of ZC. He got people to join various clubs just before their AGM's so they could vote in their people who then had a subsequent vote to elect ZC. It was headed off by all members being called at a moment's notice to dilute their vote. I remember it well, was many years ago.
Zimbank is just down the road and is begging to be sorted out.

Re: the best fastest bowler in zimbabwe history
In fact I think that's when ZC changed the way the voting system worked because they realized how vulnerable they were.
Re: the best fastest bowler in zimbabwe history
If you have 5 staff looking after a field that's 1500 a month, then you have the diesel and maintenance cost on the tractors and mowers and then the cost of water, electricity and municipal rates. It's just a thumb suck but maybe it costs a club a minimum of 2000 a month. That's 24000 a year, whilst Rainbow's 900 helps it's not a lot in the scheme of things.
So this club probably has the tennis section, rugby, running, squash and social/bar section. They then hire put their field for fairs and social events (good earner I guess), then maybe they feel they have some spare money to do some cricket guys a favour because they don't have the bucks, it's probably quite annoying when it all worked before but now has to be subsidized just in case someone says they're being elitist or whatever term they care to use and they definitely wouldn't want someone with the least input calling the shots. All clubs will have similar expenses and revenue streams and they all hang on by a thread in today's economic environment.
