the best fastest bowler in zimbabwe history
Re: the best fastest bowler in zimbabwe history
I stand to be corrected but I think the social sides pay 10 ea, that's 240 a game. Rainbow's 100 a game against another league side who perhaps don't pay is therefore a lot less. This is a guess and maybe someone can input without foaming at the mouth.
Re: the best fastest bowler in zimbabwe history
Didn't mean it to be throwaway or incendiary. I was actually trying to move it on from black/white mudslinging and was trying to address some of the more specific complaints. Gargamel thinks he was refused entry because he was black and I wanted to acknowledge that as part of his complaints. I was not saying it was done deliberately but if it happened as it did (which could quite easily have been an oversight) I understand why he may have been frustrated. I have no reason to believe he lied or made it up, hence the evidence for it happening is his word. Just as I have no reason to believe it is in OGs interest to be racist. It was also not my intent to accuse them of such, more an assumption based on gargamel's account. So fair enough if it was wrong.ZIMDOGGY wrote:Your post all up was a good one, but this is a very silly thing to just throw in there willy nilly as a throwaway line. It just fans the fire. Without having any idea, by your own admission, you've just reinforced that OG's are racist and dont allow blacks in.
Like Googly said, do you REALLY think that any institution in Zimbabwe would really do that?
There is also no basis of evidence for that. Little things like that lead to ZC style race purges. Remember this isnt New York, this is an actual minority that have experienced alot of racial discrimination the last few years.
I think both blacks and whites have suffered racial discrimination. The sooner that is acknowledged by both sides, the easier it would be to move on.
Googly, you are quite quick to accuse gargamel of being racist throwing in land grabs and farms as if he has anything to do with that, the cheapens your argument just as the dogg has accused me of cheapening the argument, quite probably correctly. I can believe, also, however, that it must be tricky to follow Zim when you see potentially more deserving players ignored, a situation you seem to be well aware of through your encyclopedic knowledge of the school game.
It is a really difficult issue for sure.
Re: the best fastest bowler in zimbabwe history
Ive reread the stuff I wrote to see where the racial stuff is and i can see where I'm loaded up with sarcasm it's been taken very literally. I mentioned I don't agree with clubs with no home and it was G that went tilt, not I. Let me reiterate that no club or institution discriminates against anybody of colour, it would end very badly for them, but of course in the other direction as I said earlier it's the most distriminatory place on the planet. It may be easier to be a Christian in Lahore. I've put that last sentence in as an example of a sarcastic comment for reference purposes. Where you see Django in previous comments it should be taken with a pinch of salt (which is an example of an idiom). Please let's drop this whole thing, it's such a waste of time and energy. Cheers.

''encyclopedic knowledge of the school game.''
That piqued my interest, next week is the u18 interprovincials at Eaglesvale.
Is there any interest in that?

Re: the best fastest bowler in zimbabwe history
Congrats to Rainbow for winning the Harare league for the 1st team. A significant achievement by all involved.
Re: the best fastest bowler in zimbabwe history
I've seen the u18 players, aside from about 5 players there is a dearth (not death) of talent. It's very difficult to get excited.
Re: the best fastest bowler in zimbabwe history
Trials at the start of winter is really clever (yet another example of sarcasm). They will do them all over again next season because they would have forgotten their names. At the last trials there were fields with metal wickets. These are trials to pick national and provincial sides, the level of incompetence is extraordinary.
Re: the best fastest bowler in zimbabwe history
If there's any silverware for winning the League where do you suppose Rainbow will put it? Will each guy keep it it for a month, or maybe glue it on the bonnet of the captain's or manager's car?
Re: the best fastest bowler in zimbabwe history
Sorry I've just realized this may also be misinterpreted. I realize glue may ruin the trophy.
Re: the best fastest bowler in zimbabwe history
Googly, you say let's drop it and then post a load of smart arse comments about sarcasm and idioms. There are some people here who are as intelligent as you, hard though you may find it to believe. Pardon me for misinterpreting comments like
"The war is over, you won, and for you the prize is a wide selection of clubs that have abandoned cricket fields, run down club houses, destroyed bowling greens, rotting squash courts, empty sad tennis courts, empty cracked swimming pools They are all waiting for some free black Zimbabweans, men and women, drunk or sober, to use some of that good old blood and sweat and Zimbabean resources of which you so proudly speak to go and give them some tender loving care and claim them as their own but instead you are "resurrecting" Mashonaland cricket by queuing for games at HSC, Country Club, OH and Alex and maybe Sunrise and abdicating from the real responsibilities. It's time to rebuild, stop being a leech under the guise of being a saviour, you're not fooling all of us."
as sarcasm.
I was probably duped by the fact you said "your outburst has angered me", "yeah, I'm very bitter". It seemed pretty genuine to me. You are probably just such a master of sarcasm the rest of us cannot see it. So thanks for pointing it out. But now you've asked for it to stop we may as well do that.
