Would you be sad if Zimbabwe Cricket died?

Post by eugene »

Probably not a good time to post such a negative topic, but I am going to anyway. How many of you would be sad if Zimbabwe disappeared from the cricketing landscape for good? I am not really sure what we are fighting for anymore. Cricket in Zimbabwe is only serving two purposes these days, producing talented youngsters for other countries, and lining the pockets of administrators. I dread every match, and scratch my head at how a team full of experienced players seemingly never gets any better, and only gets worse. I am done with losing match after match.

Is euthanasia legal in Zimbabwe? If so, it is time to pull the plug.

Keep in mind that I have been a fan of Zimbabwean cricket and avidly followed it since the 1992 World Cup. To be honest it hasn't been the same since the rebel strike, although the period afterwards did offer the hope that Taylor, Chigumbura, Taibu, Rainsford, Panyangara, etc could blossom into a team even better and reflect the growing reach of cricket in the country. Unfortunately it has been 12 years of crap, and it is only getting worse. What worldclass players are coming through the system that will actually want to play for Zimbabwe? I think rugby has a brighter future in Zimbabwe.

well at least if we die, we die fighting.

How many other groups can say they may have failed but they failed on their own terms?

we went down as one black nation, one black team. instead of comprmising our ethics and remaining competitive but under minoritys watchful eye.

We will be respected for how we fell.

Watermelon what are you on about?

Truth be told, it needs to be shut down. Its sad yes but id rather see no cricket than the privileged few absolute bastards who make over 100k a year doing nothing, who have ruined hope for youngsters in a once flourishing country. They deserve to be put in jail for decades. God shall deal with them one day.

Perhaps because the players seem to have lost interest also. There will still be the odd upset win, but our trajectory is downwards. In another 5 years we will be competing with Namibia, Uganda, and Kenya.
