Yes, Taibu's role as a selector is being questioned. There is no doubt about his cricketing expertise as mentioned. But

1. Problem is that he doesn't live in Zimbabwe which he needs to remain close to the system and domestic cricket.
2. How is he going to function if he isn't willing to use media.

That's concerning.

It's not concerning, it's laughable. Another first for Zim, a convenor that lives on another continent! They want another puppet convenor because Makoni is finally and thankfully no longer plausible. Taibu ticks the box because he has credibility on account of his past and he's malleable. The fact that he's not even here is a mere inconvenience. He's probably hedging his bets and if they actually pay him he may come back.
