[Issue]: Should Makhaya Ntini be the permanent head coach ?

Post by Detective RDS »

[Issue]: Do you think that Makhaya Ntini should be the permanent head coach of Zimbabwe ?

He is the interim head coach now, new to the job, initially contracted as a bowling coach for 2 years.

1. Under his tenure, Zimbabwe has a T20I win over India. Zim also played competitively in the 3rd T20I although Zim lost all the ODIs amidst particularly batting & bowling failure.

2. Ntini is extremely passionate & enthusiastic. The best thing about his he is very expressive & talks to the media. I feel speaking to the media makes you connected to the people & make them involved & interested & aware of the game. Otherwise cricket will be all dead & dull.

3. Ntini has already spoken about
- lack of maturity & poor shot selection of Zimbabwean batsmen (http://www.sportskeeda.com/cricket/inte ... we-batsmen)
- lack of support from CSA to Zimbabwean cricket (http://www.sportskeeda.com/cricket/makh ... g-zimbabwe)

4. He has a cricket academy (Makhaya Ntini cricket academy) outside East London in South Africa. He can arrange some time there for Zimbabwean junior cricketers.

5. He is a legend of cricket with 390 test wickets. Everyone respect him.

6. I believe he can definitely add value to Zimbabwean cricket. If not as a head coach then definitely as a bowling coach. He should undertake pace bowling project & initiate pace bowling camps to groom, enhance skill & work with our current & young pacers.

Opinions ?

I think he's the right choice. Prosper can be the spin coach, Chawaguta the main coach and get rid of Lance. I'm in favour of an all black set up. Maybe Stuart M as the batting coach? I think ZC likes the foreign and/or white appointments so there's always an excuse. Plus we can pay our locals a couple of grand a month instead of these fancy salaries that our results don't justify.

You're getting me wrong, mate.

I'm not a racist. I was looking for opinions regarding this issue.

I know you're being sarcastic but however if you ask me then I'm in favor of the batting coach Lance Klusener.

Chawaguta shouldn't be the head coach, Matsikenyeri shouldn't be the batting coach & Utseya shouldn't be the spin bowling coach.

Ntini thinks he's spotted the problem-
Poor shot selection, inability to rotate strike and inconsistent batting performances. He's clearly onto something that the other 19 coaches before him have overlooked.

It's just more of the same. No one has a solution that seems to work and any sensible ideas lack the personnel to implement them.

No coach will help, none.

The only coaches that can help are either/or the below.
Psychiatrist- Develop them mentally, make them tough in the mind.
Combine this doctor with a batting and bowling coach you're sweet if it pulls off.

A 'brotherhood/clique' coach.
This ones a Zimdoggy special.
There are coaches out there in other sports who develop a brotherhood among their players. Siege mentality, a crew, a brotherhood where players are loyal to each other. F the World. Wayne Bennet and Stuart Flanagan pull this off successfully in the NRL and the benefit here is we can potentially bond the players to each other so they dont leave us. A barrier of exit.
