Good for them as i was worried that they would be cut adrift and left at the bottom

But with players such as Craig Ervine, Ryan Butterworth, Alester Maregwede, Chamu Chibhabha, Tendia Chisoro, Blessing Mahwire and Steve tickolo they look to be almost as strong as anyone

Of all players returning, it is perhaps Craig Ervine’s that’s most important. He is almost as talented as his brother, and who knows it may influence Sean Ervine in future.

Nice to have these players back.

Ryan Buterworth has played for Mashonaland Eagles in the first round of Logan Cup. So, he is signed with them.

Yes, the return of Craig Ervine is very important. From his CricInfo profile, it seems that he is a batsman with very good domestic record so far. Left handed batsman like his brother Sean. Averages 36.22 in 10 FC matches with 5X50, 1X100 best of 100 and in 13 List A matches averages 39.83 with 2X50 best of 89. Has represented Zimbabwe ''A'' side. 24 years of age, maybe a player to watch out for future.

Hi i am new to this site. I have 2 questions. Is Andy Blignaut playing cricket anywhere at all? And is Douglas Hondo interested in playing for the national side again?

Hi StevenZim, welcome to the messageboard :D

As i remember, someone has tracked Andy Blignaut down to Zim but he appears to have no interest in returning to cricket, the way things have been changing recently though, who would say that he won't give it another try ?

Doug Hondo is continuing his comeback without, it seems, any problems. I would have thought that he would be more than happy to return to the National side if he continues to remain fit and effective.

Thanks for the update Traindriver. I really hope Blignaut plays for a franchise because he was my favourite player. Could do with his hitting in the final overs. With all the players being signed lately maybe they should have a sixth franchise next year to fit them all play. Where would they be based though?

I think 5 is probably enough sides - you need the competition for places to keep people motivated, and to provide decent cover in the squads for when players are on national side duty. Zimbabwe has suffered from a lack of both in the past few years, and adding a sixth franchise would dilute the player base again.

If I were forming a sixth franchise, though, I'd put them in Vic Falls. They've apparently got a thriving club scene up there (although outside ZC's structures), and I can't think of a more scenic place for a cricket ground. I've always thought they should get an international ground there - would be far more of a draw for visiting fans than Harare or Bulawayo when Test matches finally return to Zim.
