Hopefully the ICC proposals will stop this kind of thing from happening.

I like the tri series idea but shame to lose more tests.

2 tests AND the tri series would have been great.

Fools! This was the best time to play SL at Harare and get a shock win under the belt by setting up a seamer friendly track!

This would be an ideal time to play Sri Lanka in tests. Honestly, what is the point of even having a first class system, if we are going so few Tests. ZC should just scap it, and have a 50 over competition, as that is all they seem bothered about.
If ZC are not bothered, ICC should step in and either make them play the longer format, or just take test status away altogether. Shambles...

The current focus i get is automatic qualification for the world cup. A look at the ICC proposal at moment has no immediate incentives to play test cricket. The strat plan set by ZC is to try firstly to qualify automatically 4 the World cup in 2018 with the deadline being September 2017 so let them play the ODi series , generate some cash and hopefully get some serious weighted points coz come August September next year team 7 and 8 will avoid teams 9 to 11 like a plague

There is no way we are getting into top 8 even in our wildest dreams with the team we have and the teams the others have. When was the last time we were in top 8 anyway? We must resign to the fact that we would have to qualify and get real. Getting a test upset on SL would have created a lot more noise than winning an odd ODI (even that might not happen given our ODI form vs IND) vs SL / WI.

But Zimbabwe receive $9m a year from the ICC so that it can fund these types of matches???

Where is this money going?

What's the point in having 'test' status if we aren't actually going to play tests!?

By the way we're not going to auto qualify for the next world cup, anyone who genuinely believes that we have a chance is deluded.
