Re: [Match Thread] Zimbabwe v New Zealand: 2nd Test
Realistically we will loose this before tea tomorrow: three or four down tonight, six or seven down by lunch ... Anything beyond that will be an achievement. I wouldn't bank on one of our batters being dropped on one and going on to a hundred again.

Well played by New Zealand. Zimbabwe must not lose any wickets tonight if they have any chance of a draw.
Neil Johnson, Alistair Campbell, Murray Goodwin, Andy Flower (w), Grant Flower, Dave Houghton, Guy Whittall, Heath Streak (c), Andy Blignaut, Ray Price, Eddo Brandes

Well that deteriorated quickly
116 overs, chasing 386. Well played NZ... we can't survive that long and we can't score that many runs.
What do we do? Try and gun it and hope for a PJ Moor special? Or try and survive with a vintage Mawoyo blockfest?

Ed Rainsford just mentioned that Tino spent some time in the nets with Grant Flower in England. We so miss his expertise and work ethic.

I'll start to believe if we're about 0/60 with 5 or so overs before stumps. Until then I'd say all out by stumps is still on the cards!eugene wrote:Well played by New Zealand. Zimbabwe must not lose any wickets tonight if they have any chance of a draw.

They are going about it the right way: both play their natural game, Tino is blocking and leaving, Chamu is going for his shots.brmtaylor.com admin wrote:What do we do? Try and gun it and hope for a PJ Moor special? Or try and survive with a vintage Mawoyo blockfest?

I've only been watching the last few minutes but Mawoyo doesn't look all that composed. Surely "not getting out" takes precedence over run scoring tonight? We lose 2 or 3 tonight and it's game over.
I'd much prefer to see us play with a dead bat tonight and go to stumps at worst 1 down, and then re-assess tomorrow morning.
