Meanwhile Milton Shumba is nearing a ton against MCA President's XI. The team is up against it but good to see him playing well

Out for 96. Damn I jinxed him! Tony Munyonga doing well

a much better perfomance from the boys just shows
how talented they are & in my opinion yes he shumba
got 96 but he lost the matchfor us, batted for himself
and left an impossible task for others to follow. he even
fell trying to go big to cover the balls he lost, had he
spared 20 or so balls we could have easily won the match
needless runouts, hitting in the air trying to keep up
with the runrate was our downfall in the end. on a
lighter note it was a good perfomance, if mangongo
keeps this one intact add a few guys like zvidzai, frost,
booth, makoni, chiposi , jha, kaswaurere etc to strengthen
competition the next u19 world cup should be interesting
& one to watch we will certainly gofar

Another miserable loss, in a T20 this time. Our U19s are regularly losing to Malaysian select sides. Can we fall further below? How about taking on Timbuctoo next?

If you are interested, here is the scorecard: http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/m ... 48471.html

That's definitely harsh.

That looked pretty much a full strength Malay side, with the national skipper (28 years old) top scoring. Playing against 16 year olds...

let us not forget this is also their first international
fixture. they are just kids & talented kids @ that, give
them time esp when they are 18 & comment then for
now they are showing they can fit the part. Although
we haven't seen a " sam curran " quality in there yet we
def have something to look forward to

Right, they lost to Malaysian U23 today, by 96 runs! http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/m ... 48477.html (The full strength Malaysian team is ranked 23rd in the World, btw).

We have 3 batsmen getting into double figures. We bowled 7 wides and a no-ball in a 20 over innings. Can't see any positives there. I'm not sure if that was being harsh, as these are my general observations:

1. We have taken a U19 team there, fair enough. But is it the best U19 team available? I seem to remember quite a few guys who played last time would be still U19 and would be available. There could be a smoother handover...

2. We get excited by one interview / one score / one spell at whatever insignificant level and hail them as the next big thing. We are only comparing them against their own competition, which most of the times is rubbish. So, they can't normally make the step up.

So, there is reason to be negative :)

Vusi Sibanda and Stuart Matsikenyeri must be made our glowing examples of spectacular talent not achieving full potential at the higher levels. We are full of such people (or worse) coming through the system now. Not one Taibu / Taylor in a decade.

This is a team that will be available for the next u19 world cup. In effect, it is the national u17 side.
