Frustrated by his exclusion from the New Zealand test squad as an opening bat and failure to be rewarded with a tier 1 central contract, Daniel Jakiel has reassessed his options. After tracing his lineage, he has determined that he has links to the West Indies and will be relocating to ply his trade in Jamaica. Former Queenslander and West Indian international Brendan Nash broke the story 'Daniel has been staying with me for a while now, and this is the most natural progression in his cricketing career.'

Phil Simmons, the WI coach, was steadfastly against bringing in foreigners to bolster the team but the WICB would not side with him. So now Simmons has been sacked due to "differences in culture and strategic approach" while Jakiel has been given free passage to the Jamaican squad.

Jakil is the real deal cooler than ICE Man in the artic sea when bowling at the death. Was sited in destroying 4 Rebels in a super Disdant team to stop them chasing 14 in two overs. This is a break through year.

Jakiel is just the sort of guy who needs game time. Unfortunately his path his blocked by under-performing blacks who are living the high life at the expense of good cricket.
