These guys are lucky to make the money they do. Most of them do nothing most of the year, play the occasional game, win one or two, and then demand big money. In any other country they would be living behind the toilet block in the town square making a living from turning tricks.

Re: National Players go on strike
News from yesterday: http://hmetro.co.zw/zc-to-meet-striking-players/
Any updates from the locals on this? Did ZC and the well paid seniors carry out another smoke and mirrors job to perfection?ZIMBABWE Cricket players are expected to get their contracts today as the mother body moves in to solve the impasse with its cricketers that refused to train at Harare Sports Club.
The issue of contracts, national and domestic, and that of outstanding match fees backdated to July of last year were the main reasons why the cricketers resorted not to train ahead of international engagements.
Zimbabwe A are set to take on Pakistan A for two four-dayers and five One Day games from September 23 to October 19 while the main squad is set to host Sri Lanka for two Tests, three One Day Internationals and a T20 according to the Future Tours Programme.
ZC Public Relations and Media Manager, Darlington Majonga, told H-Metro that the players will receive their respective contracts today at the same time the management will also address the issue of match fees.
“They (ZC management) will be meeting tomorrow (today) with players. They (players) should be getting their contracts tomorrow. The contracts are ready.
“Issues of match fees, there were few operational challenges but ZC are making frantic efforts to settle them. They (players) will be addressed on the way forward,” he said.
The other concerns raised by the players were lack of funds to house players from outside Harare, inadequate balls for net practice and unprepared nets that needed to be rolled for an cost estimated to be US$12.

Re: National Players go on strike
It would appear anyone with money in a bank in ZIM is in the same boat, not just the cricketers. That would mean only politicians or other VVIPs who can pull strings and or disregard the law would be able to be comfortable in the current situation.
In that light, having more money from sponsors would mean more money for the ZC sharks to loot. End result is the same for the players. ZIM players are quite well paid, but how that depends on purchasing power parity, how much of the promised money they actually get, and how on time it is. I suppose slightly delayed payments are OK in a country like ZIM, but yeah if you have to wait 1 year to get your paycheck that is a problem.

So the one guy who we know can get things done is Campbell but you don't want him because you say he's a thief? He's lost some credibility domestically as there have been some question marks but internationally I'd guess his reputation is largely intact. Would you not say he's a better bet than the shower that are currently at the helm? You've inadvertently highlighted the problem- you guys want black folk running the show regardless of the consequences. You're afraid that if whites are involved there will be some black guys getting the chop or losing their places irrespective of their abilities or lack thereof, and all you see is colour. You've perfected the apartheid system you've so despised. People thought there were enough resources to pull it off and there aren't. SA is making the same blunder with much greater assets at their disposal with identical results, again they believe they can pull it off before irreparable damage is done. When one makes the same mistakes over and over and hopes for a different outcome each time they give it a name.
My bet is that you could find a couple of competent people that could run ZC for free! No charge, no salary, no theft, full accountability. Again my bet is that's not in anybody's interest. Sad but true.

When you are dead, you don't know that you are dead. It's the same as being stupid.

LMAO!!!! So much anger!!! hahahahahahaha..You really love this race stuff.. Campbell is a thief period!! You might like him but that doesn't stop him from being a thief.... Would you be happy if I added John Brent to that list?? Hahahahahahaha.. I didn't know Mascood was black??? ZC need HONEST and competent administration staff But I won't stoop to your level and make this a white black issue. Whether that guy comes from the moon, Mars or Tsholotsho I simply couldn't give a sh¡t. And on his rep outside of Zim I'll equate it to a wife beater at home (your kids and workers see this) but you're loved outside your home by everyone else(because they don't know).Googly wrote:So the one guy who we know can get things done is Campbell but you don't want him because you say he's a thief? Yah it would the good for Mr AC to stayaway from ZC.
CHRISTOPHER MPOFU: 'The problem was fear of failure. I used to think that when I played, if I didn't do well in one game, I would lose my place for the next one but now I've let go of that'
Re: National Players go on strike
For sure there is anger, the system is broken and identifiable people broke it. Is there cause for happiness? Are you happy with the way things have gone? Do you have constructive suggestions? No one is disputing that we need HONEST people with an impeccable history of cricket administrative skills, so make some suggestions, I can't wait to hear. I've never been an AC fan, he had to make alliances and compromises in order to survive within the machinations that are ZC. Had he not done so he would have lasted 5 minutes, and I'm sorry that he had to compromise himself. No one will ever really know what happened during his tenure, but he surely on occasion did stoop to other people's levels, to borrow your own phrase. I'm pointing out that he's way more credible than the current people and he knows how to make things work. He brought game and money to the table that no one else was able to. He's by no means my first choice. It would be good to advertise for administrative staff and put them through an interview process like we do for a coach, the problem being who would be the jury?
Finances need to be administered in a transparent and accountable way, something that has never happened in any sporting or other public institution in 30 years. Practically all the problems encountered in our cricket have stemmed from racial disunity, if you disagree with that I would like to hear what you think the problems really are. The whites were equally to blame pre 2004. If you don't think Zimbabwe's problems as a whole don't stem from a poorly thought out indigenization policy then you are the victim the disingenuous propaganda that has prevented us all moving forward and has enriched the few. You sound like you believe our problems stem from sanctions, drought, flood and colonization and Blair toilet politics.
I don't understand why you've mentioned JB, please clarify? Similarly Mascood?
What you don't like are uncomfortable facts and you respond with threats and protestations that I'm the racist. It's a tired, well used strategy, but sadly still works.

Campbell may be a bit of a crook, but at least he got things done. The current lot are crooks and do nothing at all.
