National Contracts 2016

Post by CrimsonAvenger »

Here's the list of 16 players under national contract:

Graeme Cremer, Elton Chigumbura, Sikandar Raza Butt, Hamilton Masakadza, Chamu Chibhabha, Sean Williams, Craig Ervine, Tinashe Panyangara, Tendai Chatara, Richmond Mutumbami, Donald Tiripano, Neville Madziva, Prince Masvaure, Wellington Masakadza, Malcolm Waller and Peter Moor.

Fitness test pending in case of Panyangara, Chatara and Prince.

More here: https://www.newsday.co.zw/2016/09/24/si ... contracts/

Missing out: Chakabva, Sibanda, Mawoyo.

Chakabva and Mawoyo missing out clearly shows that we are not focusing on tests much. Really crazy that Prince even clinches a contract after a month of purple patch. Questionable to have Richie there but no Regis. Waller, the T20 specialist gets a contract too!

There are only about 5, it's almost a 100% strike rate.

Hmm before coming to the names,i am surprised that they are able to dole out as many 16 contracts, especially when their predicament is exacerbating to its zenith.
Hopefully the players endure through the full season  and no news of player defection/strike break out.

And my thoughts exactly crimson, especially about prince.Would have traded regis or even vusi for chigs. Also the fielding specialist Raza extends his contract too!

I don't think we even have 16 guys deserving of contracts. I share other forumites concern about Purple Rain Masvaure getting a contract on the back of a couple of good knocks.
Neil Johnson, Alistair Campbell, Murray Goodwin, Andy Flower (w), Grant Flower, Dave Houghton, Guy Whittall, Heath Streak (c), Andy Blignaut, Ray Price, Eddo Brandes

At list its a start but we really need more deserving players here. players like Chigumbura Waller should be put on performance based contracts cause most of the time they are just bowling cold. Moor and Masvaure also fall in the same hat getting contracts based on a few good knocks. Hope the continue.

Too Many Rubbish players are given contracts. Players like Raza, Chigumbura, Mutumbami, Tiripano, Chibhbha are waste....bunch of inconsistents & loosers.

Zimbabwe Cricket Board is acting like Racist, no contracts for players like Bowie, Burl, Bell or under 19 players like Ives, Murray

3 year contracts for some apparently
ZC offered central contracts to players as follows: 4 A grade, 3B and 9C. We gave five contracts of 12 months, two of 24 months and nine of 36 months. Emerging squad is being looked into to see if there are any players who deserve contracts, what is important is to identify the players. The main features of the new contracts is that they are of varying durations, this time around the board saw it fit to give contracts of between 12 to 36 months, those deemed to have potential ZC wants to invest in them. Provincial contracts will be done in October so that the players start earning salaries from end of October,’’ said Mukondiwa.

The ZC most senior member of the secretariat said they started issuing contracts from last week after agreeing terms with the players. He pointed out that there are some who are not happy with the deals they were offered and that was being looked into as a matter of priority.

“We did a consultative process, consulting the technical guys and started issuing contracts last week, there are some who have appeals, those are being looked at expeditiously. We have made progress, on Monday we concluded the central contracts, negotiations were done individually. We are looking to give five emerging players contracts. You don’t have to be contracted to play for the national team though,’’ said Mukondiwa.

On how the players get to be put in different grades, Mukondiwa explained that performance determined the system.

“Each year you have each player being graded differently, because of performance you can be in a different grade, the board has taken a decision to prioritise the players, for those with no contracts there is a chance of playing for the national team where they get match fees,’’ Mukondiwa said.

Last year, national team players were given one year contracts which expired at the end of July. ZC then extended the deals by one month to cover the Test series against New Zealand. Even though Mukondiwa could not be drawn to reveal the names of the players given three-year deals, Sunday News has it on authority that left handed batsman Sean Williams is one of those given such a contract.

Lol love how at the end it stipulates that Sean got a three year deal.

It's like the article just knows that people will be thinking of Sean is unhappy with the deal as he normally is. I was thinking as I was reading 'I wonder if Sean got three years and is one of the unhappy ones'.
