1) Improve our bowling department
2) Bring back lost talents
3) Retain youngsters
4) Fair team selection
5) Stay with Zim for atleast two years
6) He, Taibu, Ntini and Kluesenar make up strong cricketing brains.
7) Find/groom new talents
8) Bring back guys like Blignaut, Grant Flower, Brent etc to Zim administration/coaching.
9) Build better relationship with BCB, and send more players in BPL
10) Motivate players, work on the mental aspects of our senior players and buildup never die attitude in the team.
How effective can he really be? All the past coaches have been put on a very short leash. I have my doubts that he will have any meaningful say in the selection process, historically the coaches get overruled at every turn. If Ntini is retained as the bowling coach then he had less to do with that dept than Ntini himself.
How can he "entice" people back, he's just the coach, not the CEO, subject to the same mistreatment that gets meted out to most ZC employees, except the few in the inner circle.

Streak has a love/hate relationship with ZC. Lets face it the whole 2004 drama was largely due to him, well and ZC too. But they later made up and were kissing buddies again but the damage had already. The talents of the likes of Grant Flower, Craig Wishart had already been lost to the game. Messiah of ZiM Cricket? Certainly not, but he will do. What I would like to know is the composition of the selection panel.

Look I like streaky, and think he's the man for the job.

But,
I'm uneasy.
There's too much hype and expectation around who our coach is. Coaches don't do shit, not in cricket.

Crickets a team sport comprised of individual segment art contributions. The on field captain largely dictates game plans and field setting. There's an outside selection team.

Not to mention the aforementioned political leash around any Zimbabwean coach.

What can we really hope for Streaky to accomplish?

He may bring out the best in the bowling, but our guys already bowl good lines, we just do it at 120 k's.

He may bring out self belief, but that's not going to transform a plodder to a star. A cricketer is made well before he hits the international stage.

Can he bring back the diaspora? That would be a true accomplishment! However in pretty sure that isn't in his job description to go globe hunting.
We can only hope for a modest improvement at best and that would be a huge win.

Yeah, but ...asi kuti ndebvu...that's the main thing.
Peterhouse U14C 4th change bowler and no. 10 batsman (but only because Aaron didn't have a bat).

This is a quote from an outspoken critic of ZC, not me in this instance, but is valid

It's a sheer waste of time until the administration is fired/jailed/publicly flogged !! What does he honestly think he can do that Whatmore, Waller (twice), Brown, Flower, Simmons et al could not do ?? It also brings into question what are his motives and intentions in accepting the position - is he trying to legitamise an openly inept and corrupt administration that cannot even account for its own income and balance sheet ?? Been down this road before, it is a complete blind sideing of the public !!

Streak as coach is ok I guess. But he needs to be backed up by a white admin. The black admin has run the game into the ground. Too many light fingered guys trying to get a piece of the liberation bounty.
