So, we end up on a decent score...unless this was an incredibly flat track...let's see what the bowlers can do.
Peterhouse U14C 4th change bowler and no. 10 batsman (but only because Aaron didn't have a bat).

All the batsmen excpet Moor probably wanted to make the decision difficult for the selectors then: scores between 26 and 38 for all 6 of them. But yes, I would feel Ervine and Masakadza would be safely through, and Moor now. Most likely Mawoyo is through too, and Williams already holds his place. That makes it 5 out of 7 in the top order. Then the question of specialist keeper or not, and the other batsman. Chibhabha is definitely a better option especially if he hits some form in the next one. Harare pitches and his medium pace is more useful than Raza's offies, and that also lets Hamilton play at 3, which is ideal... Regis has to do a Moor in the next match to reassert his claim...

Mawoyo has given us good starts, but he has failed to convert them into 50s and 100s. It's going to be a battle between Mawoyo, Chibabha, Chari and Muskande for the opening spot. Hami is likely to be picked-up based on his experience. We have three fast bowlers, one spinner and Williams as all-rounder.Why do we need more part time bowlers? Picking up average players like Raza or Chibabha to strengthen our bowling is nonsense. These guys have bowled well in t-20s and ODIs, but both their batting and bowling are not fit for test match format. We need batsmen who can score 100s in test matches, and not players who average below 30 in FC. If we really need an all-rounder or part time bowlers we need to make both Waller and Chigs bowl. PJ, Waller and Chigs would make a very strong lower batting order. SL has good spinners, so good idea would be play both Williams and Chakabva at the top. Based on current performance Waller deserves a spot as well.

our bowling is simply not good enough for us to pick specialists in every position. unfortunately its better to take a chance on Raza and Chamu compared to Mawoyo/masakadza and Waller for example because we need them to bowl at least 20 overs between them because our bowlers simply do not have good enough strike rates and that leads to them getting tired.

I'm hoping Mumba and Nyauchi bowl well in the next game and we take a chance on at least one of them..we need new blood in the pace department.

I think ( hope) Mumba will come into his own and take a hatful of wickets next match. He always appeared to be a better 4 day player

masakadza fails again. been down this road before. I hope the team is picked on form and not empty hopes and promises from some of these senior guys. if Musakanda gets a big score the next game he should be given a chance

Very very costly failure for Masakadza there. There was nothing to gain from that last passage of play for us, but Hamilton lost whatever he could lose. Good to see some form coming back for Cremer. Don't think Raza is that good a bowler to bowl so many overs.

finally Cremer is in amongst the wickets at long last. Great effort from Mpofu too doing his chances no harm at all. After all he is a better option to Chinouya. Disappointing from Hamilton again.
CHRISTOPHER MPOFU: 'The problem was fear of failure. I used to think that when I played, if I didn't do well in one game, I would lose my place for the next one but now I've let go of that'

Cremer is lucky to be there at all. He averages over 86 in tests against the top 8. Other than cleaning up a weak Bangaldeshi tail, he has achieved nothing in over ten years. We probably have 10 other spinners playing domestically who are better, Martin Guptill of all people outbowled Cremer in the second test against New Zealand. If we are going to have a token white captain, at least give it to someone who deserves to be in the team on merit.

Cremer hasn't really played that many tests against the top sides. Over 300 first class wickets would suggest he is among our best.
