As I posted earlier, here is what Hilton said on his future in 2012:
Since I was five, I was playing with dad in the backyard in Zimbabwe. It had always been my goal to play for Zimbabwe, but when our situation changed and we came here, I wanted to get that Baggy Green and these are my first steps playing for WA and the Scorchers.
And more recently, as of August 2016
On Growing up in Zimbabwe?: I can’t remember the whole deal. I remember all the good. I don’t remember a huge amount of the bad side of Zimbabwe. My sister was a bit older and remembers quite a bit, but I remember living on a farm. Our cousins were down the road. It was only in the last year or so when we had to move out of our farm home and live with my mum’s side of the family in Harare was when my perspective started to change.

I’ve never thought about playing for England. I used to think “I’m always going to play for Zimbabwe”, but since moving to Australia I’ve actually never thought about playing for the English. That’s always been my goal, to play for Australia. I wouldn’t be able to manage the weather over there for more than six months, I don’t think. It’s too cold for me.
Don't think national pride is really a problem, but it is exactly as Googly said; job security & living conditions outweigh any sense of Zimbabwean patriotism.

How close is Cartwright towards Australian Selection? Looking at how woeful the Aussie second string bowlers were in SA, and specifically the lack of all-rounders who have made an impact, that spot is opening up nicely? Mitch Marsh struggling to play to his potential, Faulkner's frequent injuries, Maxwell... Must be time for Hilton to get a go? Or is there anyone else in the pecking order above him?

Can Streak and Taibu pick up the phone NOW and do something about it?

if he has a few big scores on the trot, aussie selection is imminent.

I have been saying for three years here that he needs to be approached. 18 months of which i was greeted with 'Hilton who?' or apathy associated with having no idea who he was.
If we had acted then, when he was dumped from WA, it could have been a different story. Now i think the horse has bolted as usual. Too much money and bitches staying put now.

Moral of the story, when Zimdoggy talks, on this forum. People better wake up and listen.

Henriques is probably next in the pecking order after those you mentioned, especially as he is currently the leading run-scorer in the Matador Cup. Even Marcus Stoinis would still probably be ahead of Hilton at this stage as he taken more wickets and made more runs. Cartwright hasn't exactly been setting the world on fire in terms of his recent performances either; 31 & 2/36(7ov), 0 & 0/15(1ov), 10 & 1/17(3ov). A fair bit of improvement required yet if he wants to be seriously considered.

That is crap. I have been calling to "get him in the team" as soon as you brought him to ZCFs attention. You need to read more than just your own posts.

Last I checked, we called for anyone who...
a) has at least a Zimbo great-grandparent and
b) may have sometime lifted a bat /chucked a ball
...to be gotten into the team.

Not exactly a high bar, that... ;)
