crazy to see that Williams has only played 48 first class matches and Chari has played 45 but Williams has a good 1600 runs more..real gulf in class there.

Chari will play in the first test i reckon, dont worry about his average he has now scored runs against South Africa A, Afghanistan A (big 100 not included in FC stats) Sri Lanka Development and now Pakistan A. He has proven that he is a good player and deserves a run in the side.

His failure against New Zealand was one of things which can happen against a good side. I would rather invest time in Chari than Mawoyo. He clearly has talent and needs five tests and 15 ODIs to show what he can do.

Williams looks in great form at the moment, saw a video of him in the nets this week and he was middling everything. Question is whether to bat him at 4 or 5.

This innings a set back for Musakanda, i would give him another season of FC cricket and the A side before putting him in the national side.

i think chari should be given an extended run with
the national he has shown there is something to work
with and considering we have masakadza, mawoyo as options
then its better if we stick with him.. When burl is fit
he will take the other opening slot .. I still dont think
ervine is best fit @ 3 he might be our best option but
i believe we will get more from him if he drops to 4
with waller @ 5 & williams @ 6 because ov his higher
strike rate

question though is what kind of a pitch are they playing
on

I hope Chigumbura has done enough to be not considered.

Regis blew his chance, and it could be a blessing in disguise for Musakanda to fail today. May be he can be eased in through some inconsequential ODI than play him in a test straightaway.

Agree with the Chari brigade. He has been pretty consistent in the last year and a half. Those horror averages are due to probably pushing him to FC cricket much before he was ready. Definitely a better option in long term than Mawoyo.

Vitori doing his thing :)

Yes chari has been adequately tested, just needs the backing of the think tank,to give him a patient run in this time around. But as far as masvaure is concerned, the guy hit the jackpot,to score that one ton against SA A,(being only his second in 118 fc innings) just before our test season, that went on to fetch him a central contract too!..not holding my breadth for his next big score,..happy to be proven wrong though.

At least there is now a proper debate on who should be in the test team. The selections for these 2 A-Team games has been pretty decent, compared to some of the previous sides ZC has thrown together.
On the Mayowo vs Chari argument, I think it's worth reminding people that Tino still has years left in him, and has scored decent runs for Zimbabwe. It's a great effort to carry your bat for 163* against a Pakistan attack that includes Saeed Ajmal. He has also got 50's under pressure in 2nd innings when it's still game on.

Chari is definately a prospect, but I wouldn't say Mawoyo is finished yet.

Perhaps Musakanda should be left out of this test series but then played in the ODI's where he has been in great form. Hopefully he should be ready for test cricket after a lengthy domestic season should it go ahead as planned, then give him a crack at test cricket
