If this SL team had toured BD, it would have lost every match with huge margins. I can accept losing to India B as it was full of enormous proven domestic talent who had not got opportunities to show their worth at the highest level. Similar losses to SL B containing former discards and struggling bits and pieces players is atrocious. And we are thinking of direct qualification for 2019.

It would be a disgrace to Associate cricket if we did qualify for 2019.CrimsonAvenger wrote:If this SL team had toured BD, it would have lost every match with huge margins. although PJ still has a long way to go the way he played today was proof that if u believe in your ability and back yourself u can score a few runs. he doesn't suffer that mental block the senior players have from losing 80% of the matches they ever played. u could just sense that Elton was not going to last long. he has been in this situation countless times and its now affected the confidence to back his ability. I'm afraid there is no solution for this besides starting afresh and giving new talent a go. a lot of these senior players are beyond saving. the likes of musakanda and burl when he is fit should be given a go otherwise we will have absolutely no chance of making that world cup

Yes, PJ is a breath of fresh air. Not enough to cahnge the course of the match, but doing enough regularly to catch the eye.
I'm beginning to really like this Dhananjaya de Silva. Class and lazy elegance married in right proportions. Could be the next biggest easy-on-the-eye batsman from the subcontinent.

The disappointment never ends. Our batting line up should be Vusi, Hammy, Craig, Musakanda, Sean, Pj, Cremer, Ryan Murray.
However many times Vusi and Hammy frustrate us, there's no one better.
There's no starting afresh my friends, there's no one else.

Disappointing performance.. PJ did OK, Panyangara bowled OK and that's about it.. What seems to surprise me is Tiripano bowls 10-15km/h quicker in Limited overs Cricket than in Test matches.. He was our quickest bowler today and bowled 4 balls at 138km/h.. The coaching staff should encourage these boys to bowl quicker! Let's see how Zimbabwe performs in the next game. We hardly play any Cricket and are slow starters. We get better as the series goes

I've been advocating to keep the experienced players in the side whilst everyone else here wanted to bring in the youngsters .....
I'm now on board lets see Musakanda, Burl, Maybe Gumbie, Nyauchi etc
Hopefully Murray, Mashinge, Ngarava and Matgimu get some franchise cricket ......
What's the situation with Lake and James Bruce I remember reading somewhere they were interested in playing ? Or was it a dream ???
Also what's the go with Godwill Mamhiyo ? Is he doing Uni in South Africa ??

Lake and Bruce are at uni. I don't know for sure but I think they may finish next year if they don't go on to do post grad stuff. Bruce has already played a couple Fi games which signifies an interest and I assume Lake will also be keen. The problem I see is that they may not persevere for the 3-4 years that Burl and Moor did before selection. They would need to make an impact immediately and then make an A side shortly thereafter in order for them to keep plugging away. I don't know this first hand, I'm just surmising. 4 years is a long time to do the time on a few hundred dollars a month when you have a degree that can earn you a good living. Empowered cricketers are a MF to have to deal with, you need downtrodden guys to manipulate. ZC were lucky that Burl and Moor persevered as long as they did. Cricket has to be a viable career at FC level in order to attract the players and I don't see that happening, except in exceptional circumstances.
