Looks like we made a heap of errors today, solid batting from Craig and Raza but Willy, Chigs and Moor failed to make the most of it ....
Dropped catches and poor fielding again from the sounds of things so I'm actually glad we tied .....
Anyone have a link to some highlights ???

Thanks mate great highlights .....
Geez from watching that we were so lucky to get away with a tie, what bowling from Tiripano at the end. Again this shows having 'tough guy' players in the side is so important it gives us a chance to win. I was talking about it in another thread we need guys who want the ball or bat in the pressure moments, Donnie has shown he has determination with the bat and now he has saved a game with the ball well done to him .....
Honestly what role is Elton playing ?? Batting 7 and not bowling you have to be the master of slogging from ball one which he isn't. Either he bats @4 or he starts bowling again or he's carrying the waters ......

Elton Chigumbura is being treated like garbage by captain Cremer and coach Streak. They are refusing to let him bowl and keeping him from batting higher up the order where he has a chance to succeed. I believe Cremer and Streak are running an active campaign to tarnish the legacy of Chigumbura, much like another former captain, Propser Utseya had his reputation tarnished by white administration and players. Utseya, perhaps our most successful player since the white rebellion, was reduced to a bit-part player and given no choice but to speak out publicly against the racist Alistair Campbell. My sources tell me that with Utseya gone, Chigumbura is the next veteran to be sent into exile "in disgrace."jaybro wrote:Thanks mate great highlights .....

Back to the match against the Windies, Sean Williams again failed and must have run out of chances, he is being given a prime batting spot in place of Chigumbura and is wasting it. Craig Ervine should have stayed till the end of the innings and brought up his century, he continues to display mental weakness and must be held somewhat responsible for this tie which should be treated as a defeat. Cremer's captaincy and bowling continues to be clueless and he was lucky Tiripano bailed him out at the end with some superb bowling. I was shocked to see Moor actually hit the stumps also, probably his best piece of keeping - although that isn't saying much! The sooner Chakabva is behind the stumps the better, Moor needs to focus on his batting!!!

Chigumbura hasn't bowled well in years unfortunately. He may well get exiled soon but if he does it's because he's contributing nothing. Waller is dangerously close to that point as well but he at least has some T20 credits in the bank.
Good final over by Tiripano. Shame we couldn't escape with the win, but from the position we were in stopping WI from getting over the line is basically a win. They threw it away.

I agree Willy did not bat well but Ervine and Raza both shown determination and grit to get us in a good position before Chigs wasted a great chance to make some runs and do what he does well. His bowling would not have suited the deck anyway imo. Mpofu and Donnie where enough.watermelon wrote:Back to the match against the Windies, Sean Williams again failed and must have run out of chances, he is being given a prime batting spot in place of Chigumbura and is wasting it. Re: [Match Thread] Tri Series Game 3 Zimbabwe v West Indies
A very thrilling finish to that game. I was disappointed that WI didn't take it home, but I'm glad for a tie and shared honours between the teams.
) but it wasn't working. Now he has batted lower down and made a century (not a chanceless century granted, but still a century). I'm personally hoping that the up-and-coming players will be able to compete for positions in the test and ODI teams soon and that this will strengthen the batting and the bowling. A new season of the WI Professional Cricket League has begun (Round 2 just ended), so I will be updating that thread soon. However, between the recent West Indies A team tour of Sri Lanka and these first couple rounds of domestic cricket and the List A tournament back in January there are quite a number of players showing potential: Jason Mohammed (batting, especially 50 overs), Kyle Hope (FC and List A batting), Rovman Powell (with bat and ball), Versammy Permaul (spin bowling), Jon-Russ Jaggessar (spin), Delorn Johnson (with the ball, been underperforming with the bat), Rakheem Cornwall (very surprising and performing with bat and ball!), Shimron Hetmyer (bat),Vishaul Singh (bat), Sharmarh Brooks (bat), Anthony Alleyne (opening bat), Roston Chase (bat), Shane Dowrich (bat and wicketkeeping), Shai Hope (bat and wicketkeeping), Sheldon Cottrell (bowling), Roshon Primus (bat and ball), Alzarri Joseph (with the ball), Nkrumah Bonner (bat), Shannon Gabriel (with the ball) and Devendra Bishoo (with the ball). Rajinda Chandrika (with the bat) and Jermaine Blackwood (with the bat) are at times showing their potential but not as consistently as needed (especially Chandrika). They are still in the mix though.
I think Shai Hope will probably produce better results in that position than as an opener. In my thread on WI domestic cricket I had noted that unfortunately for a while they seemed to be trying to shoehorn Shai Hope in as an opener (perhaps they were confusing him fro his brother, Kyle, who is am openerTapsC wrote:Pat Symcox was right that inexperience might cost the west indies in the end and it did. I might be wrong but from the stats I saw not even 1 of the West Indians had played over 50 ODIs and we had 7 guys who had played at least 50. most of our guys really have no more excuses about not having enough international exposure. seeing hope scoring a tonne makes me feel sorry for Musakanda.not saying he would score big but he deserves a chance. I would drop chari and Elton for the next game and add musakanda and waller whilst pushing PJ to open and score quickly upfront
