Agreed. But there was no need to just dispense off almost everyone from the previous batch and get the 17 year olds. We could have eased them in over the period of 6 months. But then again, we don't get too many opportunities to play so they might as well have pushed all the prospects at the first available opportunity. What would be missing is that crucial handover where they could have shared personal experiences of playing at the big stage.

Nucleus of the 2002 /2004 U19 team played almost entirely together for 2 world cups (and anything in between), so we probably got a good output from there.

And we won a match against the Singapore team! http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/m ... 48479.html

We finished last in the quadrangular T20 series by the way, by losing the 3rd place playoff against the Singapore select team: http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/m ... 48483.html

And Singapore select were also made up of 15-17 year-olds (although I didn't check all the players). That's the standard Zim is heading towards: World Cricket League Division 4 or 5 -- that's only a step or two higher than Germany for **** sake.

I think that's what gets me the most is that ZC are shameless. The new depths that we sink to seem to not bother them in the least. They have no concept of how difficult it was for us to get where we did and they have squandered and ruined everything. They have to go or we are doomed.

These matches just suddenly appeared on cricinfo, strange. 2 T20's and 5 ODI's against Namibia U19's.

Where's Ryan Murray?

He is still u19, but I guess they are going with the same selection policy as for the Singapore tour. In other words, selecting those who would be available for the next u19 world cup in 2018.

It is hard to get excited by these young prospects, any of them that are good will just leave.

this is a very good young squad, before they travelled
to namibia they played against a mash eagles side in
5 50 over matches.. scorecards hard to find but they
lost the last 1 by 12 runs. liam roche, milton shumba,
kieran robinson & jayden can really hold a bat plus
dollar who is more of a big hitter like snyder does not
hang around much.. tigere , oldrieve , connolly, chesa
are also very handy players i think we just have to wait
and see how their development goes. problems are the
same as before not selecting our best youngsters eg
ali frost the best batsman of the lot, was selected for
the tour in the initial squad but dont know why he ddnt
travel maybe bcoz he studies in sa, same as madhevere
missed the tour studying in sa now. philip woodhouse
a very handy allrounder plus mike balfour @ st johns. dont
know whythey are not intheteam maybe the white
quota has been filled.. lets see how they fair in sa in their next tour
that will be their first real test
