There you go, never trust rumours

Braithwaite
Chanderpaul
Bonner
Blackwood
Mayers
Holder
Chase
Da Silva wk
Joseph
Roach
Warrican

I'd assume that will be the side they go with, unless they decide to ignore the flat Bulawayo pitch and play Gabriel instead of Warrican or Chase.

I still think this is Zimbabwe's best chance of finally winning a Test match against the West Indies after coming close on a few occasions.

Some real average cricketers in that Windies squad, really sad to see when you have sublime talents rocking around in meaningless t20 tournaments in the middle east that would walk into this side.

Seems a full strength Windies side to me. Which of their T20 mercenaries do you reckon would make their current Test XI?

IMO there's no doubt that guys like King, Pooran, Lewis & Hetmyer would be great Test & ODI cricketers for Windies if not for the franchise options they have. Sure they don't have the numbers at first class level for me to back up these claims, but that's because they never play 4-day cricket.

Hetmyer and Pooran (ODIs) yes. Even then, those guys have played some ODIs for the Windies and they've still struggled. I admit I know almost nothing about King or Lewis. However, the question I have is, guys who don't have an interest to play 4 day cricket...do we know for a fact that they'd make good Test players? T20 and Tests are totally different things and the skills don't necessarily transfer over.

If the reports of Peter Moor having a change in mind are true and hypothetically all issues are resolved with the board, the test series against the West Indies might be a good time to make a comeback. I've always believed tests are his strongest format and the numbers do back it up. He can be a good source of stability in the lower middle order and it also provides the perfect opportunity for a redemption perhaps. Remember the gritty 63 odd in the first innings of the test win against Bangla. Held an end while wickets were falling at the other with some valuable runs. Those are the contributions we need. Additionally he can keep which is a plus. Having said all that there are lots of ifs and buts involved in this context and the probabilities are pretty less
Let's see.

I did notice that Moor is keeping this Logan cup game.

He’s not the worlds best keeper so that tells me someone has identified him as the Regis replacement or he himself has arrived at that conclusion.

Yeah that is their strongest side for spin friendly conditions (barring Seales who is injured) the t20 players are not suited to the red ball game. I would only really consider Narine but he has tried and failed with the red ball.

You have to remember this exact side beat England in a 3 match series last year so I don’t think they can be classed as average (relative maybe).

If Gabriel is back to full pace then even a slow Bulawayo deck won’t stop him.

Main weakness is their spin options. Hopefully we produce a proper turning wicket.

I don't know why I'm posting this here, but ICC is probably the only organization that feels sad when their associate and lower ranked teams do well and upset bigger teams.
