79 is not the worst score. But shows how we panicked in the first couple of overs. Didn't have to play a shot a ball. Nice to see Wes score runs against pace.

Re: Super 12s Match Thread: Zimbabwe v South Africa
I'm amazed we got to 79 in the end, thank you Madhevere and QDK
90 would have made this an interesting game, but at least this is something defendable if everything goes Zimbabwe's way. I thought we'd struggle to get 50 for a while. With that said, if there is any chance it's going to rain again we should be very liberal with our reviews in the first 29 balls...

Frustrating to see One of your big hitter burl warming in the bench when 4 wickets down in an 9 over match

Wes should have opened. He should always open in T20s in my opinion. Facing these South African quicks is a big challenge but this is what we want.

Id say ervine is too upright look at how the Indians and English hit. They have a strong base and still head almost like a baseball stance.zimbos_05 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 24, 2022 11:06 amHonestly, I much rather Ervine. He is the only guy who plays with a straight bat. All the others try these flicks and sweeps and fancy stuff that never comes off.slcricfan1 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 24, 2022 11:03 am
I mean yeah, its a hard business. But still likelier than Ervine who was notorious for being on the slower side before the last game
Even the commentators are talking about how our guys are doing too much when all they need to do is steady themselves, head still, body upright, and play with a straight bat.
The fact that Raza, Chakabva have also failed disproves the theory that Ervine should not have opened.

Not sure what the controversy is here? It wasn't like Shumba shoulders arms to it, it looked to me like he mistimed a leg glance.Nortje to Shumba, 4 leg byes
Yorker on the legs, hits the feet and goes to the rope. No shot offered by the batter. Umpire generously gives it as leg byes. Nortje is not happy with that decision. The ball hit him well outside leg stump. South Africa call for a review moreso to try to get the umpire to call this a dead ball with no shot offered rather than to get an lbw decision. Ball pitches way outside leg. Review lost. Laughable that this was given as leg byes. He was not playing any shot whatsoever, more trying to get out of the way of the ball so it might be given as a wide down the leg side.
If SA have a right to feel filthy about something, it should be the 5 penalties. Rolling on the glove after the ball is dead seemed harsh to me.

Burl and Jongwe not utilized in a 9 over game upsets me... Shuma shouldn't have come in.
