Re: Zimbabwe Cricket Photo Quiz
He played against our club in 2009, in a regional cup game. From what I remember his bowling was useful, had a yard but certainly not 80mph material and nowhere near as sharp as Travis Friend. His batting stood out though, scored a rapid 66* at the end of their innings. I just remember his face very clearly because somebody pointed out he plays for Zimbabwe A or somethingCrimsonAvenger wrote: ↑Sun Apr 05, 2020 2:14 amThat's correct.sloandog wrote: ↑Sat Apr 04, 2020 4:43 pmJohn Vaughn Davies, bloody good batterCrimsonAvenger wrote: ↑Sat Apr 04, 2020 4:36 pm571. Who is the former promising Zimbabwe Academy all rounder, who was one of those many people that abandoned cricket as a career option just around the turn of the millennium?

@sloandog,
1. Did you get to see him play live once he moved to UK? How was his bowling?
2. I checked out his stats and he probably could have been better than someone like Travis Friend if he had continued. Who knows? https://www.espncricinfo.com/zimbabwe/c ... 55828.html

Re: Zimbabwe Cricket Photo Quiz
Seems an odd coincidence that I saw his name pop up on ESPNcricinfo as one of the ‘most recently viewed’ Zimbabwe player profiles on their site

That's entirely possible because I have myself visited his profile 5-6 times in the last couple of days. So, quite possibly, there are so few visits to any Zimbo profile that even this stands out!

Re: Zimbabwe Cricket Photo Quiz
I’ve finally had chance to read that.eugene wrote: ↑Sat Apr 04, 2020 6:28 pmThat is quite the gallery of photos, none of which I had seen before. Quite interesting to read about the tour here: https://www.cricketeurope.com/DATABASE/ ... 0499.shtmlsloandog wrote: ↑Sat Apr 04, 2020 4:27 pmVery good guess mate. The photo itself was taken during a tour from Ireland, in 1986. Check out the gallery below![]()

Note Graeme Hick totting up a meagre triple century!
I bet there’ll be some nostalgia there for a few ZCF members.
Wonder if our very own John Ward was present at these games
Re: Zimbabwe Cricket Photo Quiz
I noticed that too
Re: Zimbabwe Cricket Photo Quiz
Maybe we should put this theory to the test and find some random player no one will ever look at ?
