Zimbabwe Tour of Ireland / Scotland
Re: Zimbabwe Tour of Ireland / Scotland
As I have said before if you can't step up against Afghanistan or Ireland then who do you expect to have your breakthrough moment against?

I think the youngest have to prove themselves in T20...They is only 2 spots available for them in the Odis...An opening spot and 5th spotTapsC2 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 14, 2021 4:35 amI really don't mind this to be honest. T20s are where the kids can learn to play without the senior players. They did ok last time out. I think they can introduce a policy where only 2 of the big 4 can play in T20s at the same time. There is a good chance that all of them will retire in 2023. We have to start preparing nowDonald wrote: ↑Sat Aug 14, 2021 12:45 amApparently Taylor and raza have been left out of the 20 20 squad to play Ireland. They will however be in the One day matches.
I can understand Raza as he has been awful but Taylor??
Apparently both players are not very happy. Raza has been awful in this format but I wonder regarding the decision to omit Taylor.![]()

I can't say I am a fan of this policy. It's very much a sink or swim policy without any support. It is not the right way to build up youngsters.TapsC2 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 14, 2021 4:35 amI really don't mind this to be honest. T20s are where the kids can learn to play without the senior players. Yes they are talented and have skill, but constantly throwing them into the deep end and expecting results is not the right way.
We often think it's the way because we see other countries produce quality young players who step up into the national side and cement a spot, but those players have had years of coaching and development to get to that stage.

To ignore BT but consider Ervine for the T20s is a strange one, I understand they want to continue to give opportunities to youngers but we have a T20 qualifier next year and BT must be a part of that.
Re: Zimbabwe Tour of Ireland / Scotland
I would rather Myers for example played T20 ahead of Ervine and Raza but BT?

Fucking madness. Okay, if you want a youth policy (these T20’s are pretty inconsequential for us) - surely the two of the big 4 you leave out are Ervine and Willo?!?! BT and Raza are *significantly* more valuable T20 players than those two in this format....
I hope it’s just rumours/gossip and not true.
What a trooper BT is for still turning out for Zim after literally 17 years of this stuff.

Maybe the thinking is that Ervine and Williams need match practice and time in the middle? Whilst they don’t want BT and Raza to pick up injuries before the ODIs?
I’m trying realy hard to find some logic here

BT & Raza will be included for ODIs only.

Although we can’t wrap players in bubble wrap with the ‘just in case theory’ these players should play as much as possible whilst we still have them.
Players like Taylor and Raza come once in a blue moon.
I would be really frustrated if I was Taylor, Raza had a poor tour against bangladesh so fair enough dropped for first couple, but still be available if needed.
I’m pretty annoyed at this decision. I was hoping this series would be where we make a statement that the world is missing out on us fro the t20 World Cup. I still dream of a 5-0 series
