Playing a shorter game is worse for us. We needed a rain out by this point

 this is why I was advocating for a washout. When was the last time we beat SA? Their A team was giving our full squad hell just a few months ago. I would rather play india

Wouldn't have made a difference. Our shot selection and batting smarts are just poor. We just went out to swing wildly.

This will actually be a bad result for South Africa.

Let's not jump ahead of ourselves folks, I think we can see a few upsets in this group as well, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe and Netherlands are all capable of causing some big upsets.
Bangladesh has already upset the Netherlands

We are the only team in the world for whom the longer the game is, better suited we are. Traditional approach in coaching, focus on domestic 4 dayers as the pinnacle etc. leads to that clearly. This would be a very ugly experience that probably brushes off any outside NRR based chance we had in miraculously making the semis.

Someone like Jongwe, Burl, Madhvere etc would have actually made contact though

This is where it hurts that not many of our guys are on the franchise circuit. Not much experience to draw on in this situation.

If we can somehow get to 70 (minimum competitive total) from here it would be a miracle. Expecting more like 45-50.
