Give Raza a rest , give me a spellTapsC2 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 20, 2023 10:33 amI would give Raza a rest for the first game and open with Marumani. One of the main reasons he is in the squad is that he is the reserve keeper yet we haven't seen him keep in an international 50 over match. Rather we see if his glove work is good enough now than in the qualifiers. I have my doubts about his keeping abilities. It was never really his thing.

Re: Netherlands ODI Series - Discussion
Big question is do we play an extra opener and drop the spinner completely assuming that Raza burl and Williams will do the role. Or do we make marumani open and keep ? Or do we make madande/ervine/Ballance open ? I would try to open with marumani and allow him to keep in the first game that solves lot of questions .has madande ever opened ?BT we all miss you
Re: Netherlands ODI Series - Discussion
Marumani can open the batting but it needs to be made clear that it is a one day series not 10 over matches. He doesnt need to swing hell for leather at every other ball. He had moderate success in Australia where he was a bit more circumspect
Re: Netherlands ODI Series - Discussion
Odds on they will pick too many bowlers when they don't need them.
Re: Netherlands ODI Series - Discussion
It is quite interesting that his best two ODI innings came against Australia & the likes of Starc, Hazlewood & co.
Although, he did play a lot of wild slogs that he was lucky not to connect with, so they were hardly 'chanceless innings'

I may be wrong, but even the runs he scored had quite a lot of edges/mistimes/unintentional shots. Every other time I’ve seen him he’s been a very low control percentage batter.

Hit a few good shots, but yes they were quite lucky innings really, lots of swipes and swings that evaded the edge or fielders.Kriterion_BD wrote: ↑Tue Mar 21, 2023 1:33 am

I can kind of see the logic, but we really need to be getting our 1st teamers as much game practice as they can get, and ensuring that these smaller teams know that we are better than them.TapsC2 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 20, 2023 10:33 amI would give Raza a rest for the first game and open with Marumani. Experimenting with Marumani is something they can do in CWCQ Warm Ups, or arrange some other Warm Up games in which you do that.

I was thinking of the 3rd ODI where they chased down the total after Burl's ridiculous 5-fer. I will have to go back and watch the first game where Wes made 72 and Marumani got 45.

Wes played a very nice innings, his last decent knock really from memory and Marumani's was very streaky .Kriterion_BD wrote: ↑Tue Mar 21, 2023 3:39 amI was thinking of the 3rd ODI where they chased down the total after Burl's ridiculous 5-fer.
