I don't think Andy Flower's type of discipline would work for us right now  .. too many comfortable people on the field and in the offices. He would be the kind of guy you bring in when a new cycle starts. Houghton has the right approach for now and I see him being coach for a few more years before moving into the admin

Well we are seeing JG's limitations. He's not good in front of square against decent bowling.
I still like what I see for us. He's hanging in there and not losing his head completely... yet
Also I honestly prefer somebody struggling to 25 or 30 than kids with all the talent in the world getting out for single digit scores more often than not

As Root says- that scoop is actually a safe shot if its back of a length or short. Its not hitting the wicket so the shot is on. Everyone will be playing it soon throughout the innings and not just at the back end

I'm not sure it happens as often as you think. Surely he can figure it out himself, he's not 15. Williams is the guy to talk to him.
Maybe he has and JG is not listening.
We'll have to agree to disagree because I'm certain it happens more than you are letting on. I watch a lot of cricket at a domestic, state, and national level. I umpire in games at all of those levels and see it happen all the time.

Yes he should be able to figure it out himself, but it's clear he is not, so some leadership can take control.

Anyway, let's move on from it. He is there for now. Hope he fixes it and can help deliver us a win.

It's not about to get nasty
It's good to debate.

I know what JG has done. He clearly likes ro shuffle across his crease, which is how he went out last game. Haven't seen that this game m, but its dried up a scoring area.

Let's pause for a second and consider how fucked we are without Williams and Ervine
These two guys are playing serious cricket.

The orange red combination is something else. Gumbie is clearly not a big hitter of the bowl he just has to play his natural game. Good thing he is still there. He just has to rotate the strike and hold one end.
CHRISTOPHER MPOFU: 'The problem was fear of failure. I used to think that when I played, if I didn't do well in one game, I would lose my place for the next one but now I've let go of that'

Misread that. Shame, I was strangely enjoying his innings.
Hes a gritty guy.
