T20 anyone can win on the day. That being said, IDK how I feel about a 20 team world cup. Way too many teams unless the entire thing is a knockout. 14-16 teams would probably be best and then keep the ODI world cup to top 10 + 4 qualifiers.

Lanzone was right all along with the tape and the ball together

I think 20 for T20i is the right amount. It turns of growing the game its needed.Kriterion_BD wrote: ↑Mon Jan 26, 2026 11:30 pmT20 anyone can win on the day. ODI i think 16 is the right amount. 4 groups of 4, top 2 make it out of the group. Then go knockout from there.

Having more than a 20 isn’t bad idea, it actually gives you more "World Cup vibes".Kriterion_BD wrote: ↑Mon Jan 26, 2026 11:30 pmT20 anyone can win on the day. I think the full members should be in ODI World Cup and the rest 4 or 6 could play the qualifiers.
I don't see ICC and the cricket fans are really keen to see cricket grow apart from the associate members and they're fans.

16 for the ODI WC, 32 for T20.
And every single country should have to go through proper qualifying every time apart from the host.

I don't mind this also. I would say maybe top 4 from the past tournament, automatically qualify.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Tue Jan 27, 2026 12:54 pm16 for the ODI WC, 32 for T20.

How the zone each region and how many teams can qualify from that region will be the big debate.

Indeed the win against Ireland (and qualification to WT20) was obtained with Australian, British, SouthAfricans with Italian ancestors, thus holding italian passport.
If you canvass the diasporas, several nations can get top players who do not represent the actual strenghth of local leagues. Italy is doing it in cricket, it did in the past with American and Canadians with italian ancestors for national squad of baseball and ice hockey respectively.
I hope Zimbabwe may go mining for interesting under 19 prospects in its diaspora.
What instead astonished me is when I read, in the under19 forum, that the under 19 Zimbabwean pool is about 20 players.
Regardless the mushrooming tapeball tournaments we have in Italy, just focusing to hardball cricket, we already have a pool that is five times bigger.
In Zimbabwe cricket is by far the sport that can give most rewarding results. It's only in cricket where Zimbabwe is in the top nations in the world.
How can it rely on 20 youngsters only?
Figure out Muzarabani. He is a talented athlete. I'm convinced in Zimbabwe there are several dozens as talented as him but totally neglected.
Why not organizing bowling contests for pace bowlers. If you get that, by talent only, there are youngsters who can bowl at over 75 mph, then you have "raw material" to work on to have that natural talent be corrorated by technique to teach him

Where do you get all these nonsense from? But on a lighter note do you want me to be 'stand-in statistician?'Googly wrote: ↑Sat Jan 17, 2026 5:49 amWho is our stand-in statistician? The guy that provides the clips of the opposition and helps strategize how to bowl at guys, where to set fields, and what to expect from bowlers if you're a batter.
A lot of that is known, but not all. Its vital info.
I heard Houghton is heading back to UK in March? So is he heading up our HPC or not?
Also heard Eric Chauluka is joining the national side as assistant batting coach. If you're an international batsman that's failing dismally are you tapping into Eric's knowledge or would you rather Ballance or Houghton had a look for a fresh perspective.
Pick a guy who knows as much as, or more than Stuey, not less.
Eric isn't making a difference, Ballance might and he's costing one tenth what Courtney Walsh will be demanding. Houghton is already on the payroll so he's "free"
I wonder who will manage/coach Eagles? I guess it will be via Whatsapp like Matsikenyeri does at Mountaineers.
Theyre missing a trick with the franchise coaching, we don't need any. I'm yet to see one actually do more than arrive late, if at all, and just stand around. We just need aged disinterested player coaches who are bang average and marking time and hoping they can get a stand around job when they retire. We also need someone with an agenda to send poisonous messages from head office...wait...we have a guy that does that already.
Things are extremely dire.
What are my chances? I have ECB coaching badges and university background from the world acclaimed Loughborough University. learnt from the best and Lboro has produced some of the best like Kieran McKenna.
Jonty for the stand-in statistician please
